RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Topped off the propane tanks, fresh water, filled the truck with diesel. All that's left to load is food and some clothes for me and we are ready to head out early friday

Replaced the OEM sink fixture with one from Lowes, and tossed the OEM mattress and replaced it with a real queen size Sealy Posturepedic

it takes all of two minutes to swap plates even if you have a beer in one hand.

RE: Use of air bags

stable loads in place of the stock overload spacers should solve your issue and bring the overload springs back into play

RE: Truck choice for TC

The 3500 for carrying capacity with fewer required mods over a 2500 is the way I would go.

RE: California Fire

HVAC from the picture how do you know the tanks didn't already go off? do you know the storage facility rules on full vs empty tanks? Do you see where he is flowing water, it's not on the RV's perhaps he is protecting and exposure that is out of frame. We do our job out West very well. That fire started at 9 am and blew up to 7000 acres by evening driven by 50 mph winds, its over 10,000 acres. Nobody died or was injured, 15 homes had minor damage none were burned.

I'm sure you did your job very well. the 925 fire fighters on the line are doing theirs very well too.

pulled out the flannel sheets and down quilt. Replaced it with 600 thread count cotton and a lightweight comforter. Put a new plastic cover on the window step up.

RE: New member from east Ky

welcome to the board Chief. Check the tires, you want E rated with the highest weight rating that will fit on the rims. The more plys to the sidewall = less sway. If the shocks are old swap em out for something newer and heavy duty. The rigs handle like an engine with a 2/3 full load of water.
I just retired in Dec from Santa Cruz County Fire.

RE: How to enjoy packing for a trip

The only things we load or unload from the TC is food from the fridge and clothing. for 90% of my trips I just pack a gym bag of sports clothes a few changes of regular clothes, hit the market for food rack the bikes and fishing gear and I'm done....the wife packs more clothes than she can possibly use in 3 weeks for a 5 day trip but hey it's hers to deal with. The truck is kept fueled black and grey empty, genny fueled with 2.5 gallons of spare fuel. top the fresh tank and the propane the day before. If we forget something...thats what credit cards are for..
I refuse to stress over the small stuff: adapt, improvise, and overcome.

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Geez Buzz, for a guy who administers CPR for a living, you sure eat 'interesting' breakfasts.... That looks like a heart attack on a plate!! Ha!
My Cholesterol is low, my BP is 118/78, and passed an intense treadmill Cardio Stress test with flying colors. You have to enjoy life sometimes, it's not like I eat this every day. Normal day is Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat for breakfast, PB&J or Tuna sandwich for lunch, and 4oz of skinless chicken breast or lean steak sliced over a chopped green salad for dinner.
