Suv's mirrors not big enough

Well I have been fighting with strap on mirrors and all I want is an extendable mirror(like the big 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks have) on my suv that is stable and I think I found it, they make them for many applications. I did a search for towing mirrors for my 2000 cadillac escalade on ebay and too my surprise they have them for suv's. I will looose the power mirror option but I have no problem with that. Just thought for the people with suv's and 1/2 ton trucks who want a little more mirror, here may be your answer. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/__?_from=R40&_trksid=p3841.m39.l1313&_nkw=2002+chevrolet+1500+towing+mirrors&_sacat=

RE: Popup vs. Small TT

I had a popup and tented before my tt, all honesty I wish I had bought my tt much sooner. The tt has more storage and that is nice and the heat and air conditioning is nice also along with a bigger refridgarator and freezer and the one thing you wanted a toilet and some privacy. If it were me I buy a smaller tt. Enjoy camping in what ever you choose.

RE: Why not a 3rd axle

Think about it though....years ago TTs didn't have the tongue weights they do today. Longer Airstream TT's use 3 axles for exactly that...to reduce tongue weight. Go back into the 70's and 80's and see many photos of Airstream TT's being towed by full-size sedans and station wagons. What makes Airstreams safer at lower tongue weights? There's no way the TTs we tow today with 1200 lb tongue weights on a 30' TTs could be safely handled by a Caprice Classic.... This is my exact thought, how in the world did Grandpa haul his 29' camper with the 197? Buick park avenue?

Why not a 3rd axle

Ok lets here why some of the bigger travel trailers 30' plus do not have third axles. I would see it as a benfit to the owners of the travel trailers. #1 reason it would cut down on the tongue weight for the tow vehicle. #2 Maybe? you would not need a 3/4 ton truck to pull it,if you were not over the gvwr for a 1/2 ton truck. #3 The trailer would be more even on weight distrbution on 3 axles. It is just something that I always wondered why not 3 axles.

RE: I cant take it, (winter)

I had to drag mine 300 miles to find 15 temps and snow around to play in. Go to a shop at your work to camp? Yea that is crazy. Enjoy. Sorry but the shop is not at my work, it is my personal property.

I cant take it, (winter)

This is it, I will be camping this weekend. Yes it will be 18 degrees and I am taking the the DW with as well. My trailer is parked at my shop that is not by my home, it will not be roughing it by any means, the shop has electricity, running water and a full bath. I sure miss camping and it is only January. Come on spring. Anyone else do crazy things like this? I am just a happy camper. Oh and I forgot Happy New Year to all !!!

RE: Beginner Fender Benders

G.O.A.L = Get out and look. (I do it even if the boss says its clear) It is a clear sticker with red letters and is placed on the mirrors, they were sent to me by an insurance company for a few employees I had that seemed to hit everything in sight as well with a semi tractor. You want them pm me. Truthfully take your time, slow down who cares if it takes 20 minutes to get backed in to a sight. Remember your not drivin a Toyota it takes room to manuever big stuff.

RE: how long does it take you?

Who cares how long it takes to setup and take down, you are camping relax that is what camping is about. Isn't it? It may take me 45 to an hour never timed it all I know is I look slow compared to my brother inlaw, he backs in and throws things around like a mad man and the next thing you know he is covered in sweat and sitting in a chair. I like my way better slow and easy. :)

RE: TT Stabilizer jacks 4 or more ??

Thanks to everyone!! You answered my question and now my DW will be happy as well. I have had this TT for a year and said oh well to the bounce, but for some reason it is driving me nutz lately. I am going to fix it this weekend while it is set up, I will use hydralic jacks to figure where they need to be before I mount the stabilizer jacks permanently.

TT Stabilizer jacks 4 or more ??

Has anyone tried using 6 stabilzer jacks on there tt. I am just curious on how it worked. I am thinking about a set in the middle of the tt, it seems to bounce with the stab jacks down. I do have the wheel chocks that lock in between the tires, that helped.

RE: Set Up Checklist

You will be fine, not that much different than a popup. Level it left to right and then front to rear, Put slide out (make sure you have enough room to put the slide out :W), plug in electric, hookup water, turn on propane, get lawn chair and cold beverage and enjoy the new camper. When leaving fill gray and black water to almost full go to dump station and dump black water tank first then rinse the hose with the gray water I have a Puma 30 FQSS and I used the heck out of it 08 and plan on the same this season. Enjoy the new TT
