RE: Chevy A/T w auto park brake

i have the same problem with a winebago i bought 3 weeks ago..
how do you solve the problem
Daniel
I have a 96 National Tropical with Chevrolet 454 v8, P30 chassis, and automatic transmission with the automatic parking brake. I'm on vacation & the autobrake light came on while driving 60 mph. I didn't notice any difference while driving. I stopped at the nearest Chevy dealer who checked the small tank where the autobrake is and was above minimum. He said the brake was engaging/disengaging properly. I continued on to our first night destination. I checked the tank when we parked and could see the tank was empty and that the ATF fluid had been leaking. I filled the tank again. The autobrake seems to work properly, but the dash light stays on and sure I have a leak.
I can't determine where the leak is, but there is a pressure/vacuum- valve/switch with a electrical connection on one side that looked particularly oily.
Does anyone have experience with this type of transmission and suggestions as to the likely problem and what to replace?

RE: Breakdown Information

i have the same problem with a winnebago 1992..
how do you make the repair..
Daniel
RV particulars: Itasca Suncruiser
Driveline: Workhorse 8.1L, Alison Transmission
Miles:36500
Year:2001
Break Down Description: While driving along highway the "Auto Park" light began blinking on and off. I could hear the hydraulic pump cycling as though it was trying to release the parking brake. The default position for the brake is "applied", which could have resulted in a 'catastrophic' event.
Symptoms:"Auto Park" light blinking; hydraulic pump cycling
Effect: Loss of hydraulic fluid from auto park brake reservoir
Cause: End of hydraulic ram had loosened allowing fluid to spray out when pressure was applied to release the brake
Outcome: Removed access cover, tightened end of ram as tight as possible, and refilled reservoir. Suggestion : Keep a regular check on reservoir fluid level
