Anyone have a good source where I can purchase night glow tape (charges with daylight and will be visible most of the night)? I plan on putting some on our steps since alot of what we do is boondocking...

RE: Cracker Barrel info NJ to MI

When staying at a CB most close about 10:00pm so we usually get there soon thereafter and get up when they open at 6:00am so the wife can get her pecan pancakes... During the day it is usually harder because people with no common sense or whatever tend to park in the bus/rv spots and CB does nothing to stop them...it's a crpshoot during the day to find a spot big enough to stop and eat...

RE: Cracker Barrel info NJ to MI

First off Hello folks, This is my first post but I have been visiting here for over a year or so and enjoyed absorbing the knowledge and experiences of the folks here. A BIG thanks to all. Now my question......I am planning a trip from southern NJ to the UP of Michigan to Newberry in late July. I/we will be traveling in a class A motorhome. I have traveled some already mostly heading south on rt 95 and stay at the cracker barrel's along the way for all the obvious reasons. I know there are parts of America on the road that you may not want to spend a night in a parking lot in by choice. I see along my route that there are Cracker Barrels in: Mechanicsburg PA, Maumee OH, Bridgeport MI, and Flint MI. I'm looking for opinions on if any of these locations are a "nope, I wouldn't stay there" type locations. I know anything can happen anywhere and I do carry "alternate" legal protection, but all my life I found "avoidance" of potential bad situations is always the best way to go when possible. Also, I would be open to any other suggestions on where to spend a layover onlong the route. Basically I will be traveling rt 76 through PA, to rt 80, rt 23, rt 75. I figured there is no other place better than here to gather this info.:) Thanks again for a wonderful site. In Michigan along I-75 there is also a CB at exit #15 (Monroe, MI - if you decide to take I-75 all through Michigan), exit #142 (I think that is the Bridgeport one you mentioned) and exit #164 (US-13) (Bay City)... As for the one at Flint, MI (exit #122) I would not stop there (i.e. I know the area and not a place you care to stop and/or overnight)... Based on your ropute in Michigan of 23 north to I-75 I can also suggest as other places to stop/overnight should you decide: Cabela's at exit #17 off US-23, Walmart at exit #131 off I-75 (Clio, MI), Walmart at exit #184 (West Branch, MI) and the Walmart at exit #288 (Gaylord, MI) Any other info needed just let me know...have a safe trip!

RE: How fast do you tow?

Towing over 65 mph whether you have an ST tire or an LT tire is just an open invitation for something to happen in my opinion...imagine having to make an emergency stop going 70+ mph? increased speed is an open invitation to swaying Usually the ones I see towing in excess of the speed limit are usually, but not limited to, the ones that tow and camp only on the holiday weekends As for myself usually around 60-62 mph where I get the best gas mileage and never tow over 65 mph (even though I have LT tires on my fifth wheel)

RE: Highlighted words in the forum threads

Although it may be new to you, word ads have been on the RV.Net portal for more than a month. Here is a thread you may wish to read. It contains a post by Administrator that give an explanation. The thread also contains multiple ways you can stop the word ads. Tom I have clicked on the Kontera link multiple times to disable these but every time after ~ 1 week they are back...

RE: dealing with money

Best advice I can give everyone (after being in banking for 25+ years) is when using your debit card have them run it through as a credit transaction instead of a debit transaction (if someone gets your pin number they can drain your account and your out; with a credit transaction the amount of loss is usually limited to $50 or $100)...

RE: ONAN FUEL FILTER (changing of)

Thanks again kg5388... Was I correct in saying that the fuel filter(s) only need to be changed every 450 hours? Also when we get to the 450 hour mark you're saying I only need to replace the fuel filter at the fuel pump and just leave the other one there (or should I get the fitting for that one)?

RE: ONAN FUEL FILTER (changing of)

Thanks kg5388! Just got a copy of our owners manual and says to change every 450 hours and we have just less than 200 hours on it so we may be ok to go for a while... I remember someone a while back saying this model has two (2) fuel filters(?) and when he went to change his Onan told him he is now only required to have one fuel filter on it now and they gave him a plug(?) for the other fuel filter?

RE: ONAN FUEL FILTER (changing of)

Just depends on what you have. Some are simple and easy to get to. Some require alot of work to get to.Most are two hose clamps and pop off the old filter. Some screw into the pump body and can be very hard to get to. I would wait until you can tell us what you have before you take it to a shop. No sense paying the shop rate just to change a filter. Ok I have the specs: ONAN 5500W MARQUIS GOLD GAS GENERATOR HGJAB-1038D

ONAN FUEL FILTER (changing of)

Ok think Far from being mechanically inclined... With that in mind can you tell me how to change the fuel filter (I think it should be changed every 150 hours?) on an Onan 5500W gas generator (have to get the specs)???? I may end up taking to an Onan service center to have done but I thought I would ask you first... Also do you have a place online to get spare fuel filters? Ok I have the specifics: Onan 5500W Marquis Gold gas generator HGJAB-1038D

RE: Please Help - Potty Question

I am not sure about this one. Maybe it should be in Gen'l RVing Issues. I am sure it doesn't go to Tech Issues or RV Pet Stop. I will think about it. Are you all sure it isn't normal? Hmmmm. Frank Don't put it in the "Around The Campfire" forum because the open flame with this one might not be a good thing... :E :B

RE: Found the one downside to the long bed dually

Based on my experiences, if you have a 'significant other', have your her run back there and direct you! ;) WARNING! You'll back up without hitting anything (maybe) but you're marriage may not survive the proceedure! We found it helps the marriage a little if you each use your cell phone when backing up :)

RE: Finished my Gen turki

The only thing with the home-made versions is that you have to make sure that your design draws the fumes up the pipe and out the top...the actual Genturi does but I have heard of some of the home-made designs not actually doing that ...and as for the noise level the real Genturi does quiet ours down a little
