RE: Improving ride/handling of Kodiak

All I've done is the Bilsteins. Took away alot of the side to side sway. Someday plan to add the air bags set up individually because I'm always towing something. Just the factory sway bars, no trac bars or stabilazers. Handles just fine at 65mph.

RE: Easy Curtain

We really like ours. You won't get wet putting it on or taking it off. We bought the ADCO first and the magnets would not hold it to the cab in a wind. Made modifications to it then still bought the Easy Curtain.

RE: slides and levelers.

I've always leveled first so there won't be a twist in the framework then slides out. Slides in then retract levelers when leaving.

RE: Stopped at a Super Wall-Mart today..stopped selling RV items

I still see some rv stuff around here locally in the Walmarts. I've also noticed the main isles don't have the clutter they once had, especially behind the checkouts. I like that, the stuff went somewhere.

Kodiak instrument gauges

Has anyone else had one go silly on them? On our recent trip about a 100 miles from home cruising down I-70 the oil pressure gauge is giving a strange reading. Usually its around 45 psi. but this time its near 30 psi. The engine temp was ok so I didn't think there was an engine problem. Keeping an eye on the gauges the temp. gauge remained fine but the oil pressure started going up slowly. when it quit climbing it was off the chart sticking straight out to the right. When I would stop then start the engine again the readings were not in their usual place but never low. It continued to be all over the scale and beyond.
After I got home I found out a friend has a mid-2000 Chevy pickup and his volt gauge has done the same thing. Also watching Truck U on speed the other day they said this was a problem and replaced the whole gauge cluster. So has anyone else had this happen? Thanks.

RE: Class A Gas vs Class C

We started out about 10 yrs ago with a pickup and a pop up then a 27' class c. Three years ago we began shopping for something else and my DW did not like the big front window. Said she felt like she was on display. I think our Super C has all the capacities of an A (fuel, holding tanks, storage). A 10k lb. hitch also. No over head bunk it's an entertainment center. I really like the way it drives too.

RE: Leveling Jacks causing frame problems...CAUTION

Portable Paradise where are the rear jacks located. Mine on the right rear is middle of the fuel tank and the left one is at the rear corner of the fuel tank. So far no crack on mine by the bedroom slide. Do you open the slide without the jacks down? I don't know if it makes a difference or not but we don't put the slides out until the jacks are down and the MH level.
I have noticed a soft floor by the bathroom in the hallway but my DW says she doesn't feel it. I will probably do the Ronfisherman fix when it warms up. Best of luck.

RE: is diesel the right choice for me?

I guess your looking at Super C's. Most seem to be diesel powered. Mine is gas. It did work it pretty hard going over Wolf Creek Pass in southern Colorado pulling a 20' open trailer with DW's Mazda Tribute on it. It was easily $15K cheaper than comparable diesel models when we bought it. I'm happy with the gas model, pulls great

RE: First time higher altitude towing

What ever grade of fuel you use in Missouri is what you use out here. Our regular unleaded is 85 octane compared to your 87. Less oxygen less octane. You won't have as much power but you'll be fine. When going down hills don't ride your brakes, down shift the transmission. Have fun and enjoy yourselves.

RE: Synthetic oil how good is it

An experiment to try. Take a bottle of synthetic oil and a bottle of dino oil same weight. Put them in the freezer for a couple of hours then take them out and see which one pours easiest. Thats the one you want for cold start ups to lube the parts the quickest. Good luck.

RE: Synthetic oil how good is it

All my stuff is gas powered and I use synthetics in everything. The drivers, motorhome, generators, etc. I take the oil with Lucas synthetic additive out of my low 11 second drag car after 75 to 100 passes and then run it in the pickup, Jeep, mowers or generators. I have used Mobil-1 but last few years been using Walmart synthetic and now Napa synthetic. By the way Napa synthetic is on sale now for $2.99 a quart. I've got my supply for this year - I hope.:)

RE: Do you drink the water....

We use our fresh water tank (90 gal) for everything. Most of the time it's with our well water. I've never have sanitized in 3 years. I blow out the lines to winterize and no pink stuff except down drains and toilet. We're carrying enough stuff, don't need to carry more water.

RE: Gas Mileage

I bought mine used with less than 2000 miles on it 3 years ago. I figured for the $15K to $20k difference between the price of a gasser to a diesel I could buy alot of gas. Only suspension upgrade has been Bilstein shocks not thousands of dollars that others have spent. Drives just fine.

RE: Gas Mileage

Just made a trip last week from Denver, Co. to Kansas City area and back pulling the Jeep. Set cruise at 65 and averaged 6.5 for the trip. Drove the return home in one day, 600 miles with some fanny fatigue. I like my Endura.

RE: We can't contain ourselves. New RV! Jayco Embark...

My Dad told me "You don't need a hobby if you have an RV" back in 2002 when I bought our first class c. He had been RVing for years. So as you are bouncing and banging down the road expect things to come loose or break its going to happen. My Gulf Stream has been what I expected, only minor fixes that I have done. Just not worth it for me to take somewhere to repair them.

RE: How do teach the DW to drive the coach

My DW doesn't mind freeways and will do some traffic in cities. After we bought the Endura in Illinois driving home to Colorado on I-80 I told her it was like driving her Mazda Tribute just a little bigger. She did fine and still does, towing the 24' trailer or the Jeep. By itself piece of cake.

RE: New Year's Eve !! ... Broken down at Dump Station : (

How old are the battery cables? This past summer drove my Jeep to town in the morning(no problems). That same afternoon went drive it again and it was dead. No cranking of the engine. After some investigation discover the negative cable end had gone bad. I cut it off and put another one on and it's still working today. Cheap place to start if they are old. Good Luck!

RE: Best Route to Sedona

I thought there was a length restriction on 89 south out of Ash Fork? I don't remember what it was though. I was pulling a 20' trailer and was too long(about 59' total). I turned around went back to Flagstaff. Highway 179 was no problem. We have stayed at Distant Drums twice at Camp Verde. Thought it was nice and clean.

Enjoy your stay. CC State park is too close to home for me to go camping there, usually crowded in the summer. Drive by it often.

RE: Winter Camping in Denver

Is there a reason for staying at Cherry Creek and not an RV park with full hook ups? Monthly rates at an RV park or mobile home park might be worth looking in to.
