RE: Conversion to Direct TV HD

I cant tell but I am assuming this is for the rv and house?? It's free to convert if you simply call directv.
get the hd dvr so you can record shows.
and the slimline 3 antenna.
and the "sled antenna base" for the rv.
You can forgo the sled for a tripod mount if you are willing to spend a bit more time and effort setting up the antenna. the sled will get you going in 2 minutes flat.

RE: 14-year-old becomes youngest player at the Masters

And as watching his score crumble, it's obvious that his only tour win which allowed him to play at the masters was a fluke.
Interesting to see that ignorance is an excuse after all.<--- Tiger.

RE: free camping in and around Mammoth and Yosemite?

Thousand Trails's is on a side road 3 miles outside of Yosemite.
If you take that road (Hardin Flat) and continue on past TT, it heads into some of the best area for dry camping I have seen. It lacks a running river but man the the trees more than make up for it.

RE: registration woes... what do i do?

Check to see if the state where the rv is offers a temp tag. Otherwise you'll have to register it there probably, but the taxes are deductible when you re-register in fl.
You might get lucky and win the lottery by convincing a FL. clerk to allow a state trooper verify the vin where its at and then faxing the affidavit to fl. But that might be a long shot.

RE: Any downside to putting your name and cell # on the door?

Excellent point that "Puttin" made....when you leave your S&B house, do you post your name and phone # on the door? No different....
It's interesting that we trust no one when it comes to the S&B but ironically trust pretty much anyone when we are rv'ing. Comradeship?

RE: Any downside to putting your name and cell # on the door?

We leave a sign in the window with our dog's name and our phone...
In Case of Emergency.
We leave the dog in the trailer when we are gone.
Never had a call, but i feel much better leaving it just in case.
how did you train the dog to answer the phone? :)
Very smart dog!! She's a lab shepard mix. She can tell time as well!
Knows exactly when dinner time is, and let's me know.
My chocolate lab does that too. Shes very persistent when I am late.

RE: Fl. repeals requirement for International Drivers License

"Americans make up 88 per cent, while other international visitors contribute nine per cent."
That means out of every 100 visitors, only 3 are canadian. I was being overly generous. All 3 of them, wow.

RE: Disney, 2 older dogs, close by boondock places?

I did a job out at newport beach last year and there is ZERO chance I would even contemplate parking it over night in a walmart there. Go park it in a rv park.

RE: Non-resident recreational vehicle registration in New Mexico

I know nothing about Florida law but I do know that would NEVER wash in California.
wrong hombre.
when my son and I were out there he bought a car to tool around in. The title and registration had our florida address on it. The surprising part (to me) was that because he was a florida resident, he didnt have to pass a smog test with the car.

RE: another golf joke

rob, he didnt care about wacking his ex dead, what bothered him was the double bogey at the end of the hole.
when i was a kid I showed a friend how to swing a club and cracked his forehead wide open. 15 stitches later, he refused to come over any more. :B

well organized camping vacation except lacks the camping site. heh. :B
Try the thousand trails CG just outside yosimite. There is also some real nice boondocking sites on the same road as the TT's CG. Forest city to say the least. Coyotes are thick as fleas so watch the pets.

RE: Verizon is too expensive

2 droids with unlimited voice, text msg's, and data.
1 4G usb modem with no text msg's and 5g of data.
$315/mo.
the contract runs out on everything come march and I am dropping them. Verizon served their purpose, but being in metropolis areas they are just too expensive. The competition has them easy.

RE: The game of golf, played by the oldtimers

My son drove the ball a bit harder than he meant to this past weekend. It stopped right at the green 400 yds away.
By the time I got there after hitting my "rider", the guys (my age+) that were on the green when he drove it were congratulating him and shaking his hand.

RE: I love camping and I love scuba diving.

go down to marathon and dive the eagle. slowly stick your head over the bow and peer down the side of the front of the boat. The goliaths will freak you out to no end. I swear the one was trying as slowly as he could to turn his body around so he could blast up and swallow my head.
The yellowtail snappers playing follow the leader are really mesmerizing. Unfortunately my stomach started growling and they all scattered. LOL

RE: Cheap(er) RV parks in the southwest??

Yeh the boneyard or what you can see of it from 10 is pretty cool. You know for a aviation structural mechanic in the navy, one would think I would have stopped by just to chat with some of the old birds I patched up. But sadly I havent yet.
