RE: Parris Island SC

Sorry you won't find anything on post. I know over the years it has been discussed to put in some RV sites as there are several parents that attend Graduation of their new Marines and RV there. A previous poster listed the better site available in the area. This LINK will give you some info of the base. Depending where your Daughter lives you may be able to dry camp in the drive way, as most of the RV sites are a few miles from PI. Enjoy that grand Baby.
Have your son check with the base for a site. When we were there in December they were constructing a campground out between the rifle range and the golf course on the site of the old trailer park. They had the hookups to the sites in and looked like they were putting the finishing touches on the bathhouse. I would think that it is complete by now.

Pensacola

We are headed to Big Lagoon State Park for spring break and would like some input on what to do in the area. We know about the Naval Avaition Muesuem and Fort Pickens so what other family friendly things are there. Also any input on resturants in the area would be appreciated. The Shrimp Basket looked interesting online but I would like to hear the good or bad from someone who has been there.
Thanks

RE: Snow in all 50 States!!!!

Paging Al Gore...Sir Albert Gore
I hate this global "warming" myself.
bumpy
Large amounts of snow is a direct result of global warming. The air is becoming heavily saturated with moisture because of it. Try thinking of the larger picture. Snow here but no ice in the Arctic. Cold in Florida and warm in Vancouver. The world is larger than your backyard.
:R Keep believing that.

RE: Rockwood Roo 23ss Vs F150 4.6

I have an '08 F150 4.6 but with 3.73 gears. I will sometimes pull our KZ with it when camping local. It does a very good job with our 7000 lb loaded trailer. You know its there but it has no issues pulling it. Its hard to believe but it actually feels more stable/solid than our Excursion but I guess its just that the Ex has a softer suspension.

RE: Hankook

Never heard of them.
My class-c has Michelins I will replace them with Goodyear.
American Made tires.
The Michelins will be made in either Nova Scotia or most likely Spartenburg SC. The Goodyears? Who knows. I would go with the Michelins.

RE: Opinions on KZ trailers

JD- I never did for the 1st couple of years but after learning of a few instances of the frame rails pulling out of the ceiling I do now. The KZ rep I spoke to about this stated the issue was having the proper amount of tension in the rear clamp mechanism that locks the rear slide into place for travel mode. The brunt of the weight for the slide should be on the frame itself, not on the ceiling rails- those rails are not meant or built to handle the brunt of the rear slide's weight. While the rep didnt say I needed the extra support, he said that if it were his trailer he would use one. He even shipped me one as a courtesy from the company. I do use it now while in "travel" mode.

Thanks for the info.

RE: Opinions on KZ trailers

Have used our for 6 years and have had no major problems. Had to replace a drawer slide and one of the interior slide rails for the rear queen slide (just this past year). A lot can be said for our dealer too.
Check out the link in my signature for the KZ Owner's group, Goin' KZ.
Do you use some sort of support under the rear slide while traveling. We do and have not yet had a problem with the rails but I have recently heard some have even with the support.

RE: Electric Tongue Jack

I have an Ultrafab jack and use this jack cover on it. It has been on for two years and I only take it off once or twice a year for maintenance. It fits snugly and has a draw cord on it. I pull it tight and then tie off the cord. I'm able to work the switch with the cover on so it stays on all the time. I bet we have pulled the camper over 2000 miles the last two years with the cover on and other than fading a little its still in like new condition.

RE: Strange town names...!

We live about 7 miles from Central SC. I know thats not too strange but it got its name by being exactally halfway between Charlotte NC and Atlanta GA.
Yup know that town well, got a rail road track right through town as does Liberty and you drive through the town of Norris to get there. We would pick up our Meds at the Wal-Mart in Central.. Small world huh?
People ask "Central SC, that near Columbia? No, the northwest corner of the state" Then you get the shoulder shrugg and dumb look.
I cant believe you two didnt mention Cateechee. I mean how could anyone miss it. :S
I live outside of Six Mile, have a Central address, grew up in Norris and on my way to work cross the Twelve Mile, Eighteen Mile, Three and Twenty and Six and Twenty rivers.

RE: Athens, Georgia Trip - Where To Stay

Do Georgia State Parks have cable? I never thought to look as we use satellite all the time.
SOme do and some dont. It will usually say on the reservation portion of the website if it does. Skidaway Island and Lake Russell do but Vogel does not. Those are the only three we have stayed at so far. I wish SC state parks had cable, were camping this weekend and want to watch those chickens get pounded by Tennesse.:)
