RE: ACETONE FOR DRY ROT

yes I have use acetone to help remove water from wood...........I bought a boat with roted stringers, that were encased in fiberglass,,, I drilled 5/8 inch holes on 5" centers all along the the stringers and filled the holes with acetone,,,,,,,in a very vented area, I did this 3 times about 36+hrs apart using a fan to keep the fumes moving,,,,than I mixed and filled the holes with GET-ROT, now that was 6 years ago and the stringers are as strong as new............I did this with a lot of help from the rot doctor and other experts an that subject.........I dont know what you are trying to dry but in my case the acetone did help to remove the water..........

RE: upgrade engine 8.1 gas for better milage

thanks guys really like the input so far..........I know that the increase in mpg will be small if any, ( I spent 2 years working on a 7.3 ford to get an increase of 1 1/2 mpg ), am working towards power ect, weight is another matter we are heavy ,,when you are on the road for 4 months and dry camping and moving often we must take a lot of gear that park people can get along without, holding tanks are dry most of the time but fresh water is full, gas is never below half, we move whenever the itch hits us.........any more input will be helpful....

upgrade engine 8.1 gas for better milage

we have an 2007, 13,000 miles Jayco 32ss kodak grayhawk, with the 8.1 vortec gas, I drive very easy never over 62mph at about 1800rpm, towing a small 4x4. I am very sure of the way I fuel up and check every tank...low avg is 6.2 avg is 7.3 with the best I have gotten is 8.3 and that was only once. Love the MH but would like th improve the milage some....I am looking at the up grades, by one of the r v shops, I am looking at the reprograming of the coumputer, new plugs and wires, air intake, and new muffler, it is reported that this should be good for 2 to 3 mpg better, plus better power, for a cost of about $2000.00,,,I know thats a lot for a little but it would make me feel better at the pumps,,,,,,,have any of you done these upgrades to the 8.1 gas? if so what do you think of the improvments ? we will be heading to alaska this summer and would like to get this done before we leave.....thanks for any input..............

RE: (grayhawk} furance

same problem with 07 grayhawk, furnace will come on, run for a while, than starts to cycle,,,,,blower will run but the burner cycles on and off,,,,,,,burner will not stay on for more than 30 to 40 seconds, but the blower runs all the time.......have not checked out the limit switch but I think its somewhere in that area..................also the temp. is really off from the settings..............

RE: Who's going to Alaska this summer, 2010?

This will be our first trip to the state, we are in Arizona at this time, but will head back home to washington state for some work that will take us thru the end of May, than we hope to leave in the middle of June, we have no plans other than fishing when we can and no date when to return, and no place to go, just see all we can.. We will be towing our small 4 x 4, and yesterday we bought a porta-bote at a garage sale, so it will come along....hopeing to meet up with some of you along the way..............

RE: Dealing with black/grey H2O at water/electric only sites-

2 times in a weekend? when we dry camp, which is most of the winter in AZ. we can go an easy 6 to 8 days between dumping and water,,,, water is our bigest problem, my gray and blk tanks are 40 gal each and water 50 gals, so I can refill my water tank once between dumps, maybe your tanks are much smaller?

RE: Seneca 36MS Overhead Bunk/Entertainment Swap

If you dont really need that overhead bunk why get rid of it? we looked long and hard to find one with the entertainment center, and are really glad that we waited till one turned up. Its a nice feature and gives us a lot of storage, plus looks great...........

RE: Seneca inverter outlets

I have the same trouble, what I have to do is unplug the T V start the invertor and let it come on line for about 30 sec or so than plug the t v back in and it works fine......I found that when the invertor first starts up the t v will come on every time and that overloads the invertor, and I have up graded to an 1000w invertor , still didnt help, so now I just do the unplug thing................
