RE: Christmas in an RV

This is our first Christmas as full-timers. I always decorated our house/yard for the holidays and was worried about how I would do the motorhome. We put up a 4ft. tree and strung lights in the window. Our steering wheel table has a Christmas cloth on it with my favorite Santa. The credenza/desk has the other Santas and a few Nutcrackers. I also laid some battery operated LED lights on the desk and the table up front. Everything looks nice and festive. I am happy with it. All is good.

RE: screen door rattle

We discovered the dead bolt trick also. It does help! We haven't tried the weather stripping so I may give that a try next. Ours might be old. Thanks

RE: getting rid of the stuff

We have just gone through this process. We began full-timing in August. We got lucky in that the buyer of our house wanted several of the high end items so we sold those to them. We asked our son what he thought he might want either now or later on. Those items were placed in a climate controlled storage building along with sentimental items I wanted to keep. We sold many items on Craigs List. We held two yard sales and what didn't sell went to Salvation Army, Goodwill etc. Some things ended up on the curb for garbage day.
With that all said....we kept way too much stuff. Our storage room is loaded. Our goal while we are here for the holidays is to go back and purge once again. I really thought I did a good job.....not so.
I have also found that I stored some things I could use in the motorhome and I have some things in the motorhome I haven't touched in three months. From what I hear from other full-timers this is an ongoing process for awhile.
Good luck and I applaud you for starting NOW and not waiting. It is a huge job and an emotional one too. You are in for a wild ride but it soooooo worth it in the end. Only three months into this lifestyle and loving every moment.
Good luck!

RE: RV accessories around Montgomery al?

I don't know how much "stuff" they stock but Bankston Motors is located off I-65 near the north side of town. I would highly recommend the Camping World in Anniston. It is pretty large and well stocked.

RE: Washer/Dryer

It is really a personal opinion but we have the washer/dryer combo and I wouldn't be without it. Yes, the loads are a bit smaller but it is soooo convenient. We full-time so don't know if that makes a difference in lifestyle needs but I would think it would still be very convenient.
Congratulations on your new rig!!! Tiffin makes a terrific coach. Have fun!!

RE: Starting Full-timing Earlier than expected

Congratulations on your quick sale!! We had been trying to sell for over three years and had taken the house off the market when we got a call from our realtor asking if we still wanted to sell??? The rest is history. You just never know! It was meant to be. We've been fulltime now for a grand total of 3 weeks.
I know you are excited! Your new 5er is a nice one. Congratulations on that also.
Have fun!!

Refrigerator on a slide

We have been looking at a Dutch Star that has the refrigerator on the slide and was wondering if this could be a problem situation? It seems I read somewhere that refrig. on a slide was not a good idea. It is the DS model 4006. Anyone had any experiences with this??
Thanks

RE: After two years the house has sold!

Wow!! Congratulations on the sale of your house! I know what a relief that must be. We have been on the market for 1 1/2 years with a time off during the winter. We pulled it off for about 3 months during the winter and relisted it at a much lower price. We have had several "lookers" but no contract.
It is now time to live your dream!! Have fun.

buying a used monaco diiplomat

My wife and I are thinking of purchasing a 2004 diplomat, but had some questions. With Monaco going out of business, how safe is it to purchase a Monaco 2004 diesel pusher? Will I be able to get service, parts, chassis support etc.?
Thanks in advance for your help.
