RE: Ford 460 engine

I don't know anything about the Dolphin, but I have a 1977 Diamond Class C with a Ford 460. Over 30 years old and still plugging along. Good maintenace will go a long way.

RE: Lab Work On The Road

I'm glad to have read this thread. I hadn't asked yet, but planned to in the future. I have a kidney transplant and have to have monthly labwork done.

I really like dieselgem's idea too, not to mention some of his other checklists.

RE: Could it be that CWAC season is drawing near?

We used the space heater a couple mornings this past weekend in MO.

RE: Fiver Storage Spot

Nice! Wish I had that kind of space, but then I would have to take care of it.
Ditto!

RE: Buying a motor home

It would really depend on your personal needs. Perhaps a little more info in your request would help. (weekend camping, long trips, full-timeing?).

RE: What's the Norm - Barking Dogs / Rude Campers

Not all campers are as insensitive as those you experiences. Give it time and try to relax. Good times will come.

RE: Hello Ladies & Gentlemen!

Looks like a good project and it's nice to see somebody with something even more vintage than my motorhome.

RE: How did your first rv trip go?

Considering how really old our RV is, I was actually amazed at how well our first trip went. We've rebuilt and refurbished a number of things on it since then.

RE: Are there advantages in being a "Ham" operator when FT

Both DH and I are Hams and wouldn't let our licenses go for anything. We take our radios everywhere. He even takes his when he's out backpacking and I always take mine in the car even heading for the grocery. We live a ways out in the boondocks and lose regular phone service periodically. Even our cell phones aren't reliable for about 15 miles around us, but we are always able to get out on our radios. We do use them while travelling as well.
Wish I could talk DW into getting her license. She has no interest.

RE: Insurance

I have Progressive on all our vehicles. We haven't had a claim on the RV, but they bent over backwards on an accident my wife had with the car. We are very happy with their prices too.

RE: Be careful if thinking of buying previous rental unit

We are on our second pre-rental car and really have had no major problems. The present one is a Malibu that we bought at 30K miles. We personally have put over 100K on it and are still driving it.

RE: a friend is hitting the road

I have to agree on the cell phone. You can get a trac phone with prepaid minutes, at wally world, for something like $20. The PC would be real handy too, like others have said. Free wifi is easy enough to find.

We get very excited too. I am on disability, so all I do is pretty much rest, but I can't wait to go camping and rest :)

RE: Six weeks later, MH still not ready. UPDATE

I've had the same independent service guy for almost 20 years now. He gives you a date in and a date complete when you make the appointment and is just about on the dot every time.....
....We just drove over (no appointment)to a nearby dealership last week, dropped our RV off with a list of about 15 things that needed to be done (including pulling the water heater and re-insulating it, repair to freshwater tank, installing new water inlet, etc, etc, etc)....they called the next day to say they had most of it done, they had a couple of questions about the hot water heater, they called the next day to say everything was done....and we could pick it up. (dropped her off on a Monday, picked her up Thursday morning) This is a Newmar Dealership....we have a Fleetwood...we did not purchase our RV from them.
We get the same service at the dealership 2 hours away where we purchased our RV......
Could it be both of these posters are in the Midwest? There are also multiple places around St. Louis that give good service.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I like useing the plastic loops with a snap. They are sold at wal-mart (office supply). They are used to hold name tags on your clothes. Have the plastic loop on one end and a clip on the other. I fasten the plastic loop around my lights and keep them on them and just clip on awning.
We do this too.

RE: RV Dealer scamed us

I don't have any advice about the situation you are in, but I did want to say welcome. RVing is truly a lot of fun and things for you will get better. I'm driving a 1977, so I just expect repairs.
