I don't why the guy kept driving, as though nothing was wrong.

RE: Gas Mileage

Better quit while your ahead... Next month you will be down to 13 mpg.;)
Sept 17:
Just before we left on our 1500 mile holiday this year I read an article about improving your gas mileage while hauling a trailer with a Dodge 5.7 Hemi. The article said use to burn only hi test gas and then only from a "recognized" dealer (shell ,sunoco ect) So I gave it a try. Running regular gas last year I got 9 MPG. Runiing nothing but Hi Test this year I got 14 mpg !!!!. Anyone else had that kind of experience.
Aug 28:
Up to now I have been averaging 9 Mpg from my 2011 Dodge Ram with the 5.7 Hemi while towing our fiver. I have been using regular gas and buying it from wherever the price was cheapest at the time. One of the mechanics in our garage convinced me to use only hi-test gas while towing and only buy it from a name brand distributor like Shell or Petrocan, We just got back from a 3500 Km trip and I averaged 15 Mpg !!! Anyone else had this experience?

RE: DIY Outdoor Entertainment Center ???

I doesn't matter what you do, there will always be someone who will find something wrong with it.
It's your trailer, it's your vacation, it's your family, and it's your memories that you are building. As long as you follow the parks rules... spend your valuable time however you want.

RE: Not Mentioned

I could be wrong but it just sounds like a few here are sticking your noses up about it.
I dont pull stuff out of my truck( dont even have a truck) everything is setup in my trailer just like you.
It takes no more time to set up.
you can stop on your way and eat and poop in your own facility but more people that are just traveling without trailers are surviving using public facilities and we are still alive. You sound like you are above using a public toilet.
We can maintain our speed no matter what the grade and can zip in and around parking lots.
But unlike what you may think I clean up just like you do maybe even better I dont know. if we met at the CG store you wouldn't know if I had come in a diesel pusher or a tent.
But you guys must hate it when a pop up or tenter pulls in to the site beside you. or maybe you like it so you can sit there and laugh to yourselves about how miserable we must be.
Signing out...maybe from this site for good.
Why so bitter? We are just comparing different modes of camping. When I had PUPs I swore by them (until I swore at them). You seem so defensive about your rig. I don't care what you or anyone else camps in, my preference is a TT.
:h The guy joined yesterday and has been combative in every thread he's posted in. I'd just like to say he doesn't represent Canadians very well. :B
He reminds me of another combative Canadian member (Keatonb16), who's profile dissappeared hours before "popupcamping" joined...:h

RE: Fuel Mileage

I have tried higher octane gas a few times when I used to tow with my Trailblazer. For some reason, which I don't understand to be honest, it just made my mileage worse.

RE: Understanding weight calculations

The calculator you were using is for fifth wheels. It is using 25% of the trailer weight for the pin weight.
So take your GVWR 6350 minus your GVW 5845 and that leaves you 505 lbs for cargo. 505 is 25% of 2020.

RE: consignment info

I'm glad to here you guys are not rushing it. It would be shame to lose all that money.
If you plan on keeping it, backing up is something you can learn with a bit of practice. You will get frustrated, but you will also get the hang of it. Most of us here had to learn how to back up a trailer at some point in our lives. You can probably ask someone to take you to an empty parking lot to practice and you can get alot of helpful tips from all of us here. But, I would make sure you guys think real hard about sharing it. Situations like that can sometimes turn real ugly, with even the best of friends.

RE: consignment info

I told exBF that if we had no interest in it locally within a month or so, then we could consider it. But not yet---it's only been advertised for 2 weeks.
I actually would be very surprised if a trailer sold within 2 weeks or even a month this time of year. (unless it was a great deal). If I were you guys, I would actually try to be more patient and list it for a while longer. But, I realize you two are seperated and you probably want this over and done with. Where I live, the best time to sell is late winter to early spring. If you can wait, you probably could get closer to what you want.

RE: What to get for family of 5?

We have three kids the exact same age (8,5 & 2) and we are also in the process of getting a larger trailer. With our family three or four bunks is a must. The kids prefer having a place to call their own. Our current trailer does have four bunks, but it is 25' hitch to bumper and is starting to feel small.
Another thing that we are looking out for, is that everything is accessable when the slides are in. So we can easily get treats and drinks or use the bathroom while on the road.

RE: Anybody snow camped with their hybrid?

I don't have a hybrid but my trailer has seen snow during trips on a few occasions. Here is one where the snow came pretty fast and hard in Kananaskis Alberta. Earlier in the day I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt!

This is also where we decided to stop and turn around to spend one more night at the campground.

RE: Camping World

I think you should contact the store and let them know of their mistake before getting a lawyer involved. If your bill of sale states that it is a Grizzly 990 but it is in fact a 1060, They made the mistake. Personally, I would give them the opportunity to make things right.
Keep us posted on your progress!

RE: Advice needed on possible consignment sale

Never sold a trailer that was on consignment. But I did try to buy one. In our case, the dealer could not accept an offer without consulting the owners. As a buyer, I found this very frustrating. The owners were hard to get a hold of. I would give an offer, wait 2-3 days... and it would get rejected. I would make another offer, then I would have to wait again. Finally, I just gave up and bought one from the dealer's stock.
If I remember correctly, I believe this dealer charged 10%. But it's been a while so I may be wrong.

RE: Lessons Learned. Have any to share?

When we had a pop-up, I learnt not to place anything on the roof before you crank it up.
We got to a site after an 8 hour drive. I was in a hurry to set everything up so I could relax. In my rush, I guess I placed my keys on the roof before I cranked it up. I spent the whole weekend looking for my keys. Only to find them at the end of the weekend, after we lowered the roof of the pop-up . Luckily DW had a set so our weekend wasn't ruined.

RE: Chev TrailBlazer SS V8

Don't have any experience with the SS. As already mentioned, your issue will be your payload. I used to tow with my 2004 EXT with the 5.3. It had lots of "towing capacity". But with a loaded trailer weighing 4200lbs, my Trailblazer's axle ratings were pretty at their limit.
