RE: Lance 1995 Child Restraint System for Upper Bunk

My Host has a canvas and netting panel that goes from the bunk up to the ceiling and zips. It is like this one from the Host site. The connectors are like these turn button fasteners.

RE: Warranty work refused

The car business is very different than the RV business. RV dealers are "dealers" not "franchises". There is very little loyalty between dealers and manufacturers and very little legal protection for dealers. The warranty in the RV business does not pay well at all or dealers would embrace it like they do in the car business.
Based on what the one poster said, you couldn't bring your Ford to his uncle's dealership. :) Well, if he worked at a Ford dealership.

RE: Stolen Camper

Fords prior to '07 are super easy to steal. Glad to hear you are getting it back. A simple mod that helps are the jimmi jammers.

RE: Ford F350 Hump in middle of bed

I haven't seen it, but anything is possible. It's possible it will straighten out on it's own, but I'd consider trying to straighten it without the camper. Perhaps switching to urethane spacers instead of the stock rubber ones and tightening might straighten it. My guess is campers aren't made to be rocking. You could also possibly add a compressible material like the pink board.

RE: Truck camping on othe beach

Looks like two times of the same mistakes in those last two pictures. :) Don't go off the main track that is packed down. If there aren't lots of vehicle tracks...just don't do it. BTW, that's the same if you are in a small light pickup ... ask my father-in-law!

RE: Fulltiming with pets?

You can use a fantastic fan or other temperature controlled fan that is battery powered and open the bathroom vent as well. If you add solar, the batteries would be charged by them.

RE: Warranty work refused

not sure I understand your reply, just trying to say, I would and have perhaps paid more for a vehicle to buy it at a dealer that I have a good service relationship with..
Just joking around because you happen to drive a very, very reliable truck/engine combination that generally don't break down.

RE: quality control

I'm thinking campers/rvs are a lot like cars/trucks. Some people are really hard on them, and some are not. Some brands work better for people due to their use cases. I'm not hard on vehicles or rvs. If you are, I guess you keep searching until you find one that will holdup for you.
The basic designs are very similar for most RVs with the exception of the clamshells that have their own unique issues, and they all have the same issue, they are assembled by people who make mistakes.

RE: Tighten up your Hitch Extension < $5

If you weld, don't weld the hitch, run bead or beads down the ball mount. Grind to fit, paint. Like I said though, it only makes sense if you like to play with metal and have welder, grinder, paint, etc.
As far as the bolts are concerned, you could also take a look at Square U-Bolts for trailers. You can get them with heavy galvanized coatings (for saltwater) and super heavy duty and possible use plates like this one for a different variation. http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Suspension/Redline/117594.html
Of course, we are far away from $5 for this type of modification.

Counting on the Cummins to break down? Interesting. You must have a really, really long warranty. :)

RE: S & S Manufaturing ?

They used to have a great floor plan for a nonslide model with an extra long dinette and very open. Based on the floorplans they have posted now for the 3 lengths they make, they don't have it anymore. :(

RE: Fulltiming with pets?

I think a TC is a bad choice if you are leaving dogs for an extended period of time. Having more space prevents it from getting so hot/cold in short periods. Also, vents/generators are better for air flow.

RE: Tighten up your Hitch Extension < $5

Looks like a good solution for those without a welder. If you have access to a welder, you can hand fit your hitches and ball mounts for no wobble.

RE: Warranty work refused

My uncle refused any warranty work for vehicles purchased from the local auto row dealerships. He explained if you wanted a longstanding service relationship with the dealership, then you should have considered that when you made your purchase.
Lots of people were unhappy.
Your uncle lost the plot. That's not the way people buy cars.

RE: 4500/5500 MPG/Ride Quality

All bigger trucks that I've ridden/driven ride well loaded if they have good shocks and air bags. Even my longish 32 class A was better with air bags.
Even a f-350/250 can be rough riding unloaded compared to a f150.
Your biggest impact on mileage will be the gearing along with the speed you generally drive.

RE: Short trips in East Tennessee?

You have a lot of places all around you! Do a search for WMA, TWRA, TVA, and also take a look at National Forest properties. There are also paper companies around you that either allow free access or access for a small fee. Many TVA boating areas also allow camping. You can also visit Smoky Mtn National Park.
Being a little more specific, I'd visit Catoosa WMA which is divided up by gravel roads with many places suitable for truck camping.
If you are not aware of the TN area wildlife/bugs/ticks/chiggers, do some research before you walk around much!
