RE: How fast do you tow?

I pull a 13k 5th wheel and run at what ever the posted speed limit is and sometimes 5 over during daylight, good roads, light traffic and clear weather.
If dark, raining or heavy traffic will run at least 5mph under posted limits and with 80 gallons of fuel on board requires fuel stops around every 800 miles.

RE: 5th wheel hitch - 16K or 18K

I would go for the 18k as most newer hitches will be 18k and I doubt there will be little or no difference in the price.

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch

Most newer 5th wheels you will not need a slider on a short bed truck, I have a slider now because of everything people told me on this forum when I was looking for a hitch and have pulled thousands of miles and have not yet needed to use it. If I ever get in a position that its needed then Im someplace I shouldn't be any how.

RE: insecure or inconsiderate

So yer staying in a park with street lights and yer *****ing about someone's porch light?
Close the blinds. That's why they install them.
Street lights are on the corners of each block, scare light are directly out side both of my bedroom windows on my 5th wheel and the same height and pulling the blinds kind of defeats the pupose of having the windows open and night shades down. You sound like one of the morons that does this type of thing.

RE: insecure or inconsiderate

I really don't think these people have just forgot to turn them off every night for over the 60 days they have been here! I don't have a problem with someone leaving thier porch lights on but to leave the scare lights, porch lights and out side
marker lights on all night is just plain rude!!

insecure or inconsiderate

We have been staying in a 500 site RV Resort in Florida with paved streets, street lights through out the park and security guard at the gate.
So why do some people feel they need to leave their security lights on all night? For the last several months the campers on either side of us have left the security lights burn all night and we have to keep the curtains and blinds pulled just to sleep because it's so bright out. Then a couple trailers down have there clearance (indicator)lights wired so the look like a christmas tree all night?
Just needed to vent.

RE: How fast do you drive?

daylight at posted speed to 5mph over, night time or when roads are wet 5mph under posted speed limit as a general rule.

RE: thermostat

You use a small toggle switch from Radio Shack and mount it on the bottom of the thermostat case (very small hole)and it allows you to switch between high and low speed.

RE: Campground trailer lighting

If I remember right you jump pin 3 & 4 but for the life of me I can not understand why anyone would want to do it? The CG we are staying at here in Florida has a couple of campers that have done this and the other 500 of us can not see any purpose of it and why you would want to just burn your outside indicator lights all night. They do get alot of laughs though.

RE: Has Anyone Bought & Towed from a RV Show?

Just my .02 here as well.
We're going to the Raleigh show this weekend and we WILL be buying a new TT this spring. But the thought of buying a new unit that has had 1000 people walk through it, lay on the bed, poot in it, and whatever else you can think of just isn't worth a few hundred dollars of savings.
And how do you know the unit you buy off the dealers lot has not been used in a show?

RE: Does 3/4ton+set of timbrens=1tonSRW payload capacity??

Gee I wonder why a 2500 srw and a 3500 srw are only a few dollars different in retail price? They have same rear axel! I did notice a helper spring and spring bracket stops on the 3500 could that be why such a small price difference or do they have all this special stuff like a flux capacitor that some people seem to think they have?

RE: Tell me it's not so...

We allways carry and both are only a safety click from ready (full clips & one in the chamber). We are in a large rv resort in Florida now and other than the Canadians I would bet over 75 percent have a hand gun on them or with them. Just read the paper or listen to the news and decide if you should carry one, its just your life. So far not one person in the CG has been shot, its not the gun that shoots someone its the person holding it. And yes we both have CCW permits and have for years.

RE: Bark Free Dog Colars

Have had this problem with our 2 shihtzus, they wanted to bark at people and dogs in the CG. We bought 2 shock collars that require both a vibation and bark before a shock is given and then it produces a shock that starts off mild and the more they bark the more it increases. Started useing it the first of the year only when they went for a walk, not inside and for the past 3 days have not needed it when out side any longer. Inside they will still bark to let us know of any one at the door but no longer bark when out side. We now have very well behaved dogs and everyone in the CG can not believe how good they are now.

RE: Sewer hose holder question

I used 6" schedule 20 with push on end caps and much lighter than schedule 40 with screw on caps and it holds all the fittings fine.
