RE: How long can I get away with it....

when dry camping, we dump tank in a blue tote, take it in the woods and bury it per FS instructions. Very simple.

RE: 30 Amp Extension Cord

I had one for ten years and only used it to hook up to my genny in the back of the truck. Usually the 25 foot trailer cord is enough.

RE: South Carolina

My parents (from central NY) stayed in SC (Santee) as their snow bird home and loved it. Sure it got cold at times but nothing like their home in the finger lakes.

RE: Overnighting at Flying J and Wal-Mart

TO each his own! When I park my car I get a free parking spot not a pay lot. When I need a parking spot overnight with my camper to rest, I look for free parking at walmart, Lowes etc. That simple. I never stay in a commercial campgrounds only COEs, NPs or NFs etc. If I'm looked at as cheap, your right, I am cheap. OH, we also use coupons for groceries and use senior discounts. LOL

RE: Omni-Directional Antenna

I have had a Omni Directional antenna on my home for 10 years and one for my camping trailer. The Omni Directional antenna on the house works great and I'm 40 miles from the nearest station and I get 14 stations. The one I have on my trailer works just as good no matter where we go up and down the east coast.

RE: From what you know of RV parks, would many allow this?

I know a guy who turned a bus into a welding rig. He used the front to live and worked out of the back (emergency door). He travels to marinas and works and lives there through the summer. He said he has more work then he can handle. He only works eight months a year and is off fishing four months a year. The setup he has is real slick.
On the other hand, there are campgrounds that cater to the construction people also. And some of the units cost into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. so OP, go for it.

RE: Do new trailer tires need to be balanced

wow!!!!!!!!! 15 bucks per tire is a lot. I bought new tires for my trailer and they balanced them for free. I'd find a new tire dealer. And yes, I would get them balanced.

"How long do dump valves last?" Mine is going on 45 years. Guess they don't make them like they used to.

RE: Nondisabled useing the disabled spaces at Federal Parks

I am not handicapped (thank god) and we frequent COE parks up and down the east coast and I have been issued a HC site if it is not taken when we check in. I was told by a COE employee that the HC sites are HC Accessible NOT reserved strictly for the handicapped like a parking spot at your local Walmart. I don't know about State Parks cause we don't stay in them. However, if a ranger came to me and asked if I would move because a handicapped person had came in to camp I would gladly move. No big thing.

RE: Hunter's Special?

I'll take all the "hunters specials" I can find. The last one I just finished, I bought for $100.00, put $1000.00 into it and sold it for $2500.00. Total rebuild. Great hobby.

My 1965 airstream is still going strong. Would not trade it for anything being built now.

RE: Why a small TT?

Our trailer is 19', 22' tip to tail and just right for us old people. Have a custom made add-a-room for when the grandkids are with us. And it's nice/easy to put in a lot of NF sites.

RE: DOD Civilian Retiree ID Card

I retired 8 years ago from DOD and was issued the card with "indefinate" expiration date. Is there a listing somewhere that lists the MWR campground facilities available to retirees?

RE: RV staples and stapler?

I have rebuilt several trailers and I use a air stapler from Harbor freight, about 30.00. The staples can be bought there too. I use the 1/4" x 1" staples. About 8.00 for 5000. My stapler has lasted for 4 years now but if it breaks...it's cheap enough to buy another.

RE: Choosing white wine to cook with

My wife uses "Livingston" Red Rosa or white (Chablis). A 3 litre is about ten bucks. The Red adds great flavor to homemade spegetti sauce. The white adds a nice flavor to Lingunie & clam sauce. She says she uses a cup for the sauce and a cup for the cook.
