Brownsville border is very unsettled, safer to find another destination.
I personally wouldn't worry a bit about Brownsville, I may avoid the Rio Grande River but other areas should be fine.

94 degrees & sunshine today in Mission Texas
I think Winter is finally over, The citrus trees & wild flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, lots of happy faces at the smimming pool.
Don't worry Florida, we are sending some your way.

We have two dogs in the yard that bark at anyone who approaches our house. I know it won't stop a determined burglar, but most are not, and those that are won't be slowed by an alarm system either.
How can you have 2 dogs in the yard while gone from 3 to 6 months snowbirding???

RE: Best scenic route Aransas Pass to Galveston
From Freeport & Surfside Beach get on the barrier islands & drive the islands to Galveston. This is county road 257 or Gulf Drive. You totally miss Houston traffic & the road was very good when we traveled it a few years ago. You should be able to get on the ferry at Galveston to Bolivar Island & then over to LA. Texas ferrys are free.

Been Camping over 40 years, first with a tent, then a pickup truck & topper, then a travel trailer & now a 5er & a park model. Still goin strong here. Now that we are retired we spend less than 4 months a year in the stick house.

One cool rainy day recently I stood at the front door of the clubhouse handing out $20.00 bills to all that entered.
90% of those that entered were excited, happy & thanked me profusely.
10% were angry & complained bitterly that I was not handing out $100.00 bills.
The above is only a fable but quite accurate as I see things.
Also a fable because I cannot afford to hand out $20.00 bills.
This is all great rainy day entertainment but NO personal attacks please, we would all hate to lose our rainy day entertainment to a locked or deleted thread.
Sincerely, your moderator and a 100,000 plus others that love our time in the Valley as Winter Texans.
