RE: No electrical power in HTT

Thanks again for all the really great troubleshooting tips. Big newbie mistake here--I didn't look at the 30amp male plug end. There was corrosion in the rubber around one of the prongs.
I have another (old) 30amp cord that supposedly didn't work but guess what? It does! Plugged it into camper wall and all's well. Now that I know the source of the problem I can purchase another cord and adapter (just in case).
And I want to thank the poster who said the 16 gauge extension cord is not a good size. I got carried away thinking the higher the gauge, the more powerful it is. I did buy the right gauge (10 or 12) for the camper needs.
I have a lot to learn. Perhaps, my mistakes will help someone else out! I'm going outside right now and unplug everything until the weather improves!

RE: No electrical power in HTT

Thanks for the posts so far. I'm not getting any juice to inside outlets. Reset all breaker switches in camper fuse box just in case. Battery is still working--anything in the trailer that can run on battery power is still working fine.
As I explained, my 30 amp cord is plugged into an adaptor and then into a 16 gauge extension cord which is plugged into a house outlet. The house outlet/extension cord work fine, tested the extension cord yesterday first thing.
I plugged the 30 amp cord into the camper outlet same way as always. No juice inside camper. We just got the camper in October and the cord appeared new. Could the cord go bad that quickly if plugged in constantly? Is there a way to test to see if the cord is at fault?
Thanks again for all your help.

No electrical power in HTT

We have an '08 Roo 23B. Two or three weeks ago when I checked, we had power to the trailer, i.e. microwave display, electric clock were working. Yesterday I went into trailer and discovered we have NO power to trailer. I unplugged the 30 amp cord and plugged it back in a few times with no luck. The outside electrical outlet that the cord plugs into works fine. We have the 30amp cord plugged into an adapter and then plugged into a 16 gauge extension cord.
We had a lot of snow recently, could water have gotten into the plug where it hooks into the trailer causing a short someplace? Any advice on how to start tracing the problem?
Please keep in mind my husband and I aren't electricians--KISS method would be helpful in anyone replies.
Thanks for any and all help,
Pam

RE: '08 Rockwood Roo 23B

Bikerdan and Penman, thanks for your replies. Bikerdan, I meant bypass line, not just bypass valve, sorry for the confusion. Penman, if you don't mind an occasional email until we get settled in, I'd be very appreciative. My husband and I are brand new to all this and are just trying to avoid expensive mess ups for now.
Thanks again.

'08 Rockwood Roo 23B

Newbie here. Does anyone here know if this 2008 trailer comes with a water heater bypass already installed as standard equipment? I'm looking at the water heater from inside the trailer and it sure looks like it could have a bypass line. There's a valve on the cold (blue) line at the bottom, a hot (red) line on top with NO valve and then a blue line running vertical between cold and hot lines. On the vertical line halfway down the line is another valve. No valve on the hot (red) line. Trying to get ready to winterize after one more trip. Only owned camper for several weeks.
Hoping somebody else has same setup. Thanks!

RE: Winterizing questions

Thanks for all the great info. Definitely some differing opinions and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. What works for one may not work for another. As long as we keep our equipment safe, that's the important part.
I looked at the water heater today and now I'm wondering if we already have a bypass kit installed (we just bought it used-'08 Rockwood Roo HTT). Planning to search the forums more before I post on that subject.
Thanks for your support!

Winterizing questions

Newbie here. We're going to be winterizing our HTT soon. I've read lots of posts about using air to blow out water lines vs not doing so. Using air only method or using A/F only or both to winterize the lines. I'm confused.
We're leaning toward the "A/F through the city water connection" method. If we don't blow the air out, will be water pump be okay? Do we want to blow the air out starting at the pump to protect it especially?
What size of air compressor do we need? I've seen lots of mention of needing one but not how much power it needs to have. Can someone recommend a low end (cost) model that will get the job done?
I found a good winterizing checklist on the Camco website, recommended by someone on one of the rv.net forums. I understand the winterizing process and the kit/parts needed to get the job done.
Just looking for a little more advice on the whole process and the air compressor size to buy in particular.
Thanks!

RE: Disinfectants

Thanks for the great suggestions. As a total newbie--first camping trip will be next weekend--any and all help is welcome. I think we'll make a habit of using disinfectant wipes to wipe down FW spigot at CG and into our HTT; and both ends of our WH. When the time comes to use sewer hose, same thing: wipe both ends of SH and spigot before and after dump process. Where we are going, we will be using the dump station there.
One minor point would be the possibility of contamination caused by screwing SH hose ends together for storage and then screwing an end into FW spigot at campsite. Using the wipes ahead of time and thru the process would minimize that problem, IMHO.

2008 Rockwood Roo 23B-a few issues

Total Newbie here!
Just bought this-- went on the walk thru last week-- some info stuck with me, some didn't.
Do I have an outside cable connection on the trailer? And would I then further connect a cable inside someplace running it to TV?
Dealer didn't mentioned one and I didn't ask. All I heard was 'yeah, you can get broadcast channels with this set up and cable when you hookup at a campground'.
Our TT came with an LX600 radio/cd/dvd player and a 20" Concertone monitor. I've already managed to get a DVD stuck in the slot--still haven't resolved that.
There's no clear guidance in the manuals of how to get a cable from a campground hookup to the trailer, you know, the A B Cs of what to do. I'm reading I need a 50ft cable, or a 25ft cable or two cables.
If anyone just happens to have my same TT would love some advice.
And is it true I'll need a digital converter box to view broadcast channels when there is no outside cable source? Just checking.
Thanks!

Using cable hookup at campgrounds

I've searched through a lot of posts on this site and haven't found a good answer to this yet. I understand the need to bring a coax cable to hookup to the campground's equipment if we want cable TV. I'm reading confusing information about where to attach the other end. We just bought an '08 Rockwood Roo and I'm not aware of an outside cable connection. Is there one? Is it as simple as running the cable in through a window? That doesn't sound very practical. Will someone please expand on this for me?
Remember now, there are no stupid questions when you're new to RVing!

RE: DVD stuck in ZX600

Thanks for the responses I've gotten. We took the unit out of the wall, turned it upside down and all of sudden the DVD started playing. Put the unit back into wall, watched part of the movie, got bored and tried to eject disc. Still doesn't want to do that however I won't throw in the towel yet. Where there's a will there's a way!

DVD stuck in ZX600

This is my first post to any of the forums here. Hubby and I just bought an 08 Rockwood Roo and already I've managed to get a DVD stuck in the slot on our ZX600. Any advice on how to get it out without breaking anything equipment wise?
Tried the obvious, pressing EJECT button. The machine reads that the disc is loading, disc spinning icon lights up, then get msg 'no disc' and of course the player won't eject anything.
I also have other questions about how to use the whole set up but will save them for another post. If anyone is particularly knowledgeable about the Concertone 20" monitor and ZX600 system, please speak up.
Thanks!
