RE: Classic rivalry between 2 giants...Ford #1 in sales in USA!

Every year my wife who barely knows how to drive a car let alone what makes up a quality car fills out that silly Consumer Reports survey. They only send it to their subscribers so their data is biased to begin with. I subcribe to CR but its only one source of info. I also take Consumer Digeat and guess what they have a completely different list of recommended vehiles. Think I'll do my own thinking.

RE: Knoxville Tn

Two we use. -Cove Lake state park is about 30 miles north on I 75 right near the freeway. Nice park, also Norris Dam State park at Norris is near Norris TN near I 75 a little closer but further off the freeway so it would probably take about the same time.

RE: I want to modify my tail lights to led.

I installed the expensive ones from Bargman but I saw some at Harbor Freight a lot cheaper that look the same. The main thing is covering the hole from the old lights and mounting the plate if its part of the light. Been using them for two years without a problem.

RE: Satelite tv question from a newbie. Please help.

We have a dish on our cabin and take a receiver from our main house down. You can go to a flea market and get a spare dish 500 for a few bucks and and if you don't have a receiver to take they are not much more. Dish frowns on doing this but they don't have to know. You'll have to run check switch each time you hook it up. You won't be able to get local channels (unless your cabin is close)but should get everything else. If you can't install the dish yourself most installers will do it for $50-75. Not worth messing with a tripod everytime you go IMHO.

RE: New Corvette Possibilities...split window coupe

Funny thing about the 63 coupe split windows, a lot of them had the 64 windows put in to get rid of the split window. The original window cars are now worth a lot more than the modified ones.

RE: R-Vision SuperSport 27' Value?

I've had two R Vision TTs and never had a major issue with either. If you could get it for 10-12K and its in good shape it should be a great buy. We have a 2008 23' Trail-Lite. Don't know how the values have held up since they were bought out by another company.

RE: Campgrounds in Oregon & Wyoming

We stayed at Farewell Bend Campground last year. Decent Campground with some sites on the water. Near the freeway. We had a full hook up site as I remember. Not very close to a grocery store or other shopping.

RE: Hot Water Heater

If you have a spark which you should be able to hear you might want to try running some propane through your furnance and or stove to purge the old stuff out of the system. For some reason if propane sits in the system for a lonfg time it is harder to get to light.

RE: Michigan or Wisconsin Trip ideas???

The great draw of Door County is the lack of the trashy tourist stuff you find in so many other places. If you want fast food and cheap T shirts it's not the place for you. Mackinac Island is good too but if you're in an RV you have to ride the ferry back and forth.

RE: Golf cart GAS or ELECTRIC ? ? ? ?

You missed the deadline for a free street legal electric golf cart courtesy of the Fed Gov. The deadline for the $7500 tax credit ended the end of 09 but most suppliers were sold out long before that. Many retirees got free or nearly free ones even though the tax credit was not really intended for that purpose. It was supposed to encourage real electric cars. Most places you can use the street legal carts for roads with a max speed of up to 35MPH. This year I think the max tax credit is limited to 30% up to a total of $1500.

RE: Closest Campground or RV Park to Fort Clatsop, Oregon

FYI - Since you have a dog you may be able to take it to Ft Clatsop and see ther outside ehibits since they do (or did) let dogs ride on the schuttle bus.

RE: Annual Sturgis Rally -- Badlands NP SD ???

Unless they moved one its about a two hour drive from the badlands to Sturgis. Maybe the park campground fills up now since the event has expanded so much but when we lived in Rapid many years ago it would not have. Guess you are smart to check it out before you plan the trip.

RE: RVWHOLESALERS

Always get good service from RVW. I went with the 1000 bars even though TT was about 5K loaded. The people at Equalized said either the 800 or 1000 bars would do the job but someday I migt get a heavier TT. You can call them and get their input. Bobber

RE: Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?

Two "wrongs" do not make a "right" (not sure how many it takes). If we all used common sense it would be great (but then common sense is not all that common). Guess I don't know how to fix either problem, I have enough to do just trying to keep my silly Beagle from barking at anything that comes close to our site and my grand kids are just as hard to keep quiet.

RE: Air museums

As a 44 year retired AF military and civilian I have been to almost all the US Museums mentioned so far. The US Air Force Museum here in Dayton and the Smithsonian are in a class by themselves. My favorites ones however are the smaller more specialized museums - These include Navy Aviation Museum at Pensacola, the Tillamook Air Museum, at McMinville OR, AF Museum at Robins AFB GA and the Pima Air Museum in Tucson which are all just as well done but smaller. There are also some very nice local ones that are often suffering from little funding and not enough volunteers, ones I like are Travis AFB, and Castle since I was stationed at both. The bone-yard at Davis Monthan is an amazinfg place I was able to visit often and I was always impressed with the largely civilian workers who could work on so many different aircraft. Over the years they preserved stored and processsed many unusual ones. I am working on some of my wifes father's stuff for a possible display at the Blimp Hangar at Tillamook. He was a decorated Navy PBY pilot during the Battle of Midway.

RE: Camping near Columbia River Gorge, OR?

Grew up in the Gorge and go back often. If I were coming in from Bend I would use HW 26 up to Hood River so you could stop at Tmberline Lodge and see Mount Hood. We like Tumalo State park at Bend, its on the Deschutes River and has full hook ups. The drive from Bend is senic and goes by Three Sisters. You'll end up at Hood River which is now a big wind surfing place. I 84 is the OR side freeway. Just a few miles east is a great State Park, Memaloose, with hookups and you can see the Dalles Dam and like the others in the Gorge watch some Salmon when they are running. You have a choice to cross over to the WA side or take I 84 west to Portland. Most would chose OR side but really should do both sides since only about 40 miles and several toll bridges to use. The old Highway drive in the gorge is scenic but curvy and very narrow and worth the effort. Ainsworth State park is near Multhnoma and Bridal Veil Falls, has hook ups but does not takle reservations so get in early. On the the WA side is Beacon Rock that you should climb if possible. Crown Point overlook above the river near Troutdale has just been redone and is great. All the parks in the gorge have train tracks nearby by but all are super. IMHO one of the truly great scenic places anywhere.

RE: News, Joan Rivers bumped off flight.

Seems the name on her ticket did not match either name on the her passport. If that is correct, think the agent did the right thing. Some celebrities just are used to getting preferential treatment don't like being treated like us ordinary people.
