RE: finding correct diesel pump at truck stops

get a pacific pride / cfn or whatever account is available where you live. They are commercial cardlock stations, no lines, one bill at the end of the month, and have locations in just about every little town you could imagine. Where do you get this card you speak of, sounds like it would be handy if fuel price is right.

RE: finding correct diesel pump at truck stops

I have a 2001 F 250 super duty diesel (Ford) and I have filled up at many truck stops with the big hose . it is tight but it works fine if you take it easy

RE: Backing into campsite (people with experience only)

A straight vehicle such as the CL A is in my opinion the easiest to back , I have owned 3 diff CL A's. right now I have a TT and usually back it where I want it with a couple corrections remembering to move the bottom of the steering wheel in the direction I want the trailer to go. Never owned a 5th wheel but most say they back good.

RE: finding correct diesel pump at truck stops

I have 2000 Ford diesel and it will not accept the larger nozzle. You have to drive up or park and inspect it to see if it will work. Some stops do not have the smaller nozzle at all. I am sure that I can replace the filler neck with a larger one. I usually do not stop at the larger truck stops for this reason. I have heard that replacing the filler neck does not do much good anyway since the larger nozzle fills too fast. I have a 2001 F 250 diesel and the big truck nozzle will go in, it is tight but it works fine...just have to watch not to pump too fast, it is plenty fast at the lowest setting.

RE: finding correct diesel pump at truck stops

A fuel stop can definitely be frustrating to say the least...won't turn pump on, have to go inside and leave credit card or drivers license , person fuels up and goes shopping leaving vehicle blocking pump, diesel pump not clearly marked, circle around only to find there are no diesel pumps out front, I have learned to not park with sat. pump on filler side. But when a fuel stop goes really smooth it makes my day (except for the price) :)

RE: TC Price

I want to thank everyone for all the input on the TC. People seem to use them more than the TT . I remember one time in particular we was in Valdez AK at the water front, our travel trailer was several miles away at a camp ground, a couple parked beside us and promptly went inside and had lunch.... I said to my wife....now thats what we should have. :) Also I could pull a trailer with my ATV (RZR) or a boat etc. I think it would be a great way to travel the Trans Lab Hwy . One person mentioned the sticker shock on his truck:) I broke down in VA this week and had to have a UVC harness replaced on my truck, 2001 F 250 7.3 (another story) any how while I was waiting I looked at new trucks, the one I liked was over $54,000.00...mine really looked good after that....Thanks again.

TC Price

I have been thinking of going from my TT to a TC but have a bad case of sticker shock. I am trying to figure out why they are so expensive ,there are no axles , no tires, no springs , not nearly as big as even a small TT.......I must be missing something.

RE: Outfitter Trip Report:It was a Swell Trip, lots of pictures

Looks like a great adventure. I have a TT but have been thinking for a long time about going to a TC just for such trips. I think you convinced me :) Great pictures.

RE: signature picture

When I right click on a pic to resize, the smallest it will go (as far as I can tell) is 640x 480, how do I get down to 500x100 ?

RE: signature picture

Except for a short period of time when no one could post a signature picture, the error is almost always caused because the picture or its file is too large. What are the dimensions (width, height, file size) of your picture? Tom I have resized the pic to small...640x480...the message says there is an error with our site? I post pictures to my profile with no problem but can not make the signature pic post work? Ralph rbthom

RE: Waving at other RVs

I usually wave to other RV's and most respond (with their whole hand)...what ever happened to CB channel 13 being the RV channel? That is a good way to say hello and get information etc. if RV people used it .......forget channel 19.

RE: Who is behind the wheel?

Like others my wife can and will drive the truck with out the trailer (TT) but not with trailer in tow. She says she has no idea how I back that thing into a site .....I don't let her know that sometimes I wonder myself :)

RE: Axle Flip Service Near Joshua Tree - Salton Sea

I have often considered doing an axle flip just so it would have more clearance from the ground for dump valves etc. but now the trailer I have has torsion suspension , not sure if axle's can be flipped ?

RE: Nervous wife

We've owned our travel trailer since 2003. We've never gone more than 150 miles. Next year I'm trying to talk my wife into driving from southern california to the grand canyon but she says she worries. I have a an Aljo Skyline 261LT towing with a Ford Expedition XLT with the 5.4 ltr engine. She may consider it if I put new tires on both vehicles... So, what can I tell her to ease her mind or should she worry? Thanks for all suggestions. Good tires are a must, do that and go for it. My wife and I are 70 and we have traveled ( by M/H & TT) to Alaska twice,NF twice lots of the NP including the Grand canyon and are thinking of traveling the Trans. Labrador Hwy .....take your time, relax and enjoy.

RE: Small 4-season TT

We have a 24 RBSL Kodiak that we have used in all kinds of weather, I think all rv's have one thing in common (and we have had everything from pop up to CL A M/h) if it's cold you need heat and if it's hot you need AC ....I think rating one as 4 seasons is over rated. This trailer pulls very good and has every thing we need for camping. I like the torsion suspension and the lay out. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to RV'S and this is just mine. Good luck.
