RE: The Census Lady came today.
No, in fact it was all over the news that the advance census people that were out were verifying addresses.
If you sent your mailer in there would be no one knocking on your door, in fact they bragged how much they would save the federal gov't if everyone just mailed their forms in...so I'm not sure who or why anyone was at your door.

Glad she's not pregnant, glad she's getting spayed and I love the name Abie.
She sounds like a sweet, wonderful little kitty, sure is a lucky one to have found you...it could have ended horribly out there had you not taken her in.

We feed twice a day, Zachery being insulin dependent eats every twelve hours, usually 9 and 9, so Lucy has the same schedule.
I don't think Lucy could ever be a free feeder...she's a Lab and she's nice and slim and trim so I'd like to keep her that way.

Well I'm certainly not surprised, I know I would have and have done the same thing. I hope she is not pregnant but then again, if they can do the spay I'd do that, and have done that also.
What you are doing is wonderful for this little kitty.
We've had a few calicos over the years, we had Sugar, Jessica, Sara, and now have a little one named Cali.

Maybe she's thinking back to her 60 cat household and doesn't want to go there again, or maybe this cat reminds her of someone at said household that was mean to her.
Actually have no clue, but Jesse our last rescue until Cali came to the door, did not want Cali in the house. He was so grateful with what he now had and didn't want to share it with her.
They did work it out though, now they're best buddies.

Here in florida it has not been a nice winter, but I can't say it's been horrible either.
One thing for sure is even if it's cool there is lots to see and do, so you can't get to the beach....now you can, this certainly isn't the time for us to go back up to NY.
We're due to leave on April 15th, we're changing that to leave May 1st.

I wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear of the loss of you sister.
It is so difficult to lose a sibling, I have struggled with the loss of my big brother and it is difficult.
Know she is at peace and out of pain and you will see her again someday.

Can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss, you were trying to do what was best for Oreo and the end result was horrific.
I never realized that this happens so much, or at least it seems like there has been a lot of it.

"is six too many" only you can answer that. When we had eight I really didn't think it was not doable, but that was our cut off. If she isn't any trouble and gets along with the others...well, if you think you can afford it ok then, yes I would do it, but that's me.

Not that unusual, I've had Poodles that did the same thing and we're in good health but have the teeth checked.
When they got that senior I always added a little chicken or steak to their meal to entice them and it always worked, once they started they always finished their meal.
Don't know what else to tell you since your already adding the chicken, do it every meal and mix it up with some steak too.
If they miss one meal or don't finish every meal I don't think you have anything to worry about, it's common with most "little" senior dogs.

I know how you feel, years ago we had eight cats and four dogs. It was passed our limit but we couldn't turn any of them away, we just reduced our size through attrition.
We were comfortable with two dogs and our three boys (cats) but then an adorable little calico named cali showed up and we let her in.
I know it's hard when the shelters are full there aren't a lot of choices but as Susan suggested, start networking, you may come up with something, if not it's your choice if you want to take her in.

I say give her a frisbee or tennis balls or some agility equipment, get her a job doing something. Wear her out everyday, don't let her go out back unless your with her, and when you go out there, work her, run her, exhaust her.
She's similar to a Lab, if they are bored, they will sometimes destroy other things just for something to do.
