RE: Camp and school don't mix

Schools are SUPPSOSED to teach young people how think and have proper deducting skills. Obviously public schools are unable to teach creative thinking skills. If I continue I'll get deleted so....... I'm a little confused.... What does the teaching of creative deducting and creative thinking skills have to do with a student who brought a knife to school and the discussion of whether the consequence was too harsh or not? Then I might argue that the student was using creative thinking when he chose to bring his scout knife to school in order to use the spoon to possibly eat his lunch. Kudos to his teacher for teaching him to utilize his brain. Bloom's Taxonomy at it's finest. :)

RE: Camp and school don't mix

I also have kids the same age, and they do indeed have pocket knives (we do require them to be about 12 before we buy them K-Bars). I do take responsibility for my kids and that is why they know how to safely use them. Schools have such idiotic policies covering just about everything - would move out of the country before subjecting my kids to such stupidity ;) While I can't comment on Montana, unfortunately in California I'm not allowed to create my own "school policies" in regards to bringing a knife to school. The California Educational Code (law) states that if someone brings a knife, gun or other dangerous item, then that warrants a suspension. Now the number of days is determined by the site and administrator. And age, prior suspensions and circumstances are always taken into account. But I am speaking for myself. Now if it is brandished, then expulsion is the required outcome. In regards to how the situation was handled,I will agree that the consequence was over the top. What I find unfortunate, and I guess surprising to see in a forum where most topics and posters tend to be supportive and helpful of one another, is the amount of bashing and labeling of ALL administrators and educators into the same group based on the actions of the administration in this situation.

RE: lowering LCD Tv

That actual mount is what i have in my bedroom (36 inch tv) and have put into my Ragen 5th because i didn't want the tube tv that came with it. The link you posted to the guys build site states where he got it as well (costco). He even listed the manufacturer. I recently saw the mount through Costco.com online for about $110. my local costco used to stock it but has not in awhile. look online. good luck.

RE: California 5th Wheel Endorsement

OK here we go, my wife works for the ca. dmv and the law reads like this , if your 5er's dry weight is less say 11,768 lbs. that is not the weight ca. is looking at, they are looking at how much weight the axles can carry, because you never know how much you are going to carry. My 5er's dry weight is 8100 lbs. but the sticker on the outside front corner reads combine axle weight of 11,372, so i'm ok no extra licence needed. For the rv endoresment the 5er's axle have to read 15,000 lbs and up, for a pull trailer the limit is 10,000 lbs or more, we go to pismo beach in ca. and was shocked to see them checking for the weights on all of the big rigs like triple axle toy haulers going out onto the beach caming area, i suggest that you check the axle weight limit on the front of the 5er and if under 15,000 lbs i would not worry about it. GOOD LUCK i hope this clears things up The link below specifically states that if pulling a 5th wheel with a GVWR between 10000 & 15000 the driver must have an endorsement. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dl648/dl648pt5.htm

RE: California 5th Wheel Endorsement

it took me 3 hours to get my endorsement (only 10 minutes of that was actual test taking time). I had to show them the Recreational trailer handbook numerous times in order to show them what i needed to take. It took about 20 minutes for them to figure out which way to input the info in order for the endorsement to show up. The clerk almost ended up giving me a non commercial class A due to the frustration and trouble in inputting the endorsement info. After taking the non commercial class A test, the test lady scoring the test swore that she had a specific 5th wheel exam and wanted to look for it to give me as well. I showed her the book again and because of the line backing up, she sent me on my way to the next window. What a great way to spend a day off of work. :)
