RE: Toy Hauler Loading

Thanks everyone for your comments. Sorry for my late response. I failed to "subscribe" to the thread and assumed that because I wasn't getting emails, the thread was DOA. My bad. I have a WW FS2500 and am loading a Polaris RZR and two other polaris ATV's in there. There is no way to fit them all in on their tires so I will have to tip them back. I tipped up one of the ATV's in the garage and learned (as has been suggested) that I have to turn off the fuel petcock. Also, with a full tank, it slowly leaks out of the filler cap. If those are my only problems, it will be a great solution and I will be able to fit all three machines in the toy hauler. I will be adding more tie-down hooks and using a board to protect the floor where the back ATV rack contacts the floor. I'll post a photo when I finish. Leaving on the first outing in 3 weeks. Yay! If you clamp the vent hose coming off the gas cap it stops the leak and no worries. I have to do that on the LT80 but the others never leak a drop.

RE: MY personal weight situation

Now I am over my 8800 GVWR by 1505#. :h The GVWR for the TV no longer applies. Just the GAWR and GCWR----- Right??!! Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. :CSo those brakes that are rated to meet Fed standards at 8800# are now going to be stopping an extra 1500# Do you REALLY think that's a good idea? Dont really know about fords, but on my chevy 2500hd the brakes are the exact same as the 3500, and it says in the above post that the 250 with extras has same GVWR as 350, so my guess would be brakes are the same. Dont think that would be my worry, Axle rating and tires would be my concern.

RE: Toy Hauler Loading

Do it all the time, turn gas off, drain carb if you like or run it dry and go. No need to drain fluids.

RE: WW Leaf spring bracket Failure quick fix

All the way home, Its still on now waiting to be fixed, I stopped a few times to check but it seemed to be fine. I didnt drive to fast as I dont anyway, and took the bumps I know slowly but it made it fine, but I do have a few more gray hairs thinking about it all the way home.

RE: WW Leaf spring bracket Failure quick fix

No idea, they were good when I left friday night, I have them on my checklist, I will have to look closer now, but the brackets were worn when I found them saturday morning, so a three hour trip, who knows?, but curious there was no wear on the wheel well, and less than an inch of clearance with rhino and quad out. I dont know with stuff in. I feel lucky nothing bad happened.

WW Leaf spring bracket Failure quick fix

we were out at Ocotillo wells this weekend, and Sat morning I looked the trailer over and found that the two brackets or shackles, I dont know what they are called, broke on the rear spring. The leaf spring had hit the frame and the tire had dropped within an inch or less of the wheel well on both tires. It was not that way when I left as it is part of my check list to inspect before leaving. I was in a quandry as how to get home, I have no idea how long it was like that during the drive, but enough to grind the broken bracket a bit. Well anyway here is my quick fix that got me home. If you r in a bind it at least helped me a bit. I jacket the bracket up that attaches the two springs and took a lock i had and put on the two bolts and it gave me at least 3 inches per side. I will have it fixed this week and get some spare brackets just in case http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g72/thinkpt/IMG_0618.jpg

RE: Full Station Fuse Keeps Frying

Mine blows if genny is on while fuel station is used. WW even re-routed electrical to separate fuse on its own and still happens. If Genny is off, fuse has not blown.

RE: Great trip to Ocotillo Wells

Had a great trip, was just over hill from holmes camp on alluvial trail. Thought temps great and wind no big deal. All safe and no injuries, all toys worked, what could be better.

RE: My new toy

Yes I plated it right away. Running 14/49 and a 402 tire for now on the rear. Going to put some hours on it in OWells this week and would love to try some DS stuff after Thanksgiving weekend here. None of my buds have a DS yet so I need to find someone to do some with. I live in OC and have bud in Tustin who just traded his 525 for a 530. We do saddleback alot when open and if you PM me I would be happy to swap numbers. Randy

RE: My new toy

Where to start, y7 battery, trail tech stator, Dirt tricks cam chain tensioner, I like 52 rear as said before. Bigger gas tank, I think I have 13L, header guards if you like your boots, fan with cutoff switch, scott steering stabilizer, I like Maxxis desert rear, rides way better, euro rear fender, stock will allow plate to be dragged under fender first few jumps, Check oil only after a ride or site window way off. and for sure KTMtalk.com.

RE: WW FS2500 Weight & Equalizer Hitch Suggestion

I have the FS2500 and i have the 12,000 equalizer. I thought this trailer was only rated up to 8000 lbs thinkpd? I guess i will have to weigh mine. Axles are rated to 5200#, tires are 2800 apiece I believe, tongue weight is only 700# so take that off weight of axles/ tires and you are fine at 10,000# at least per WW when I was dealing with them after I bought the trailer. Per WW the frame goes to 12000# though they are of course gone, I personally have a sticker from WW for 8675# as I was miffed it couldnt carry any cargo when loaded so they increased sticker weight for me. Anyhow I dont overload the axles or tires and frame has been fine after WW welded some support to frame.

RE: WW FS2500 Tire Suggestion

I put the E rated tires on mine, the original started wearing badly based on my weight, 10,000# or so as I put in your other post. The E rated maxxis are great and trailer tows better, I was amazed I could tell the difference.

RE: WW FS2500 Weight & Equalizer Hitch Suggestion

mine weighs just shy of 10,000# with rhino, rhino full of stuff, quad, and all tanks full. 9975# if I remember correctly. May be more now if I added stuff.

RE: what other youth quads comparable to trx90?

If you go up to big bear cactus flats or Gorman with a red sticker you will have some crying kids, I will tell you this with experience. Its a main reason I only bought a 2002 LT80. Then I found how great this quad is and cant believe its not still made though I know why. If you only go to glamis fine, they dont have a sticker issue no matter what, but Ocotillo wells in May can get you in trouble I believe, though I have risked it and not had a problem. But anywhere nice in the summer has a sticker problem. JMHO
