RE: Lost weight distribution bar (one of them)

Maybe he had it in the open bed of his pick up and not hooked to his TT.

RE: Buying a used travel trailer need some help

I would ask the dealer to inspect the soft spot and be present. If it is as limited as stated then a quick fix is all you need. Too many times the guy selling always puts the positive spin on an issue and the guy buying believes it because he wants to believe it. Then reality sets in and you are stuck.
I wonder how long that window was open, how much water came in , was it not discovered by the previous owner and dried up? If the wood is soft are the rugs mildewed?

RE: HELLO, IS ANYONE THERE????

I used RV Direct to order my TT just the way I wanted it. On their website the MSRP was $31,000 ( I checked a few other dealer sites and the numbers matched so I am thinking the MSRP was from Jayco) and my no haggle price was $21,385.00 plus tax. No delivery/transport fees.
Other dealers did not get close to that price, the next lowest was $22,800.00 without all the options I wanted. I was even quoted a price of $24,999.00 for a leftover 2009 model with even less options.
I would find out the manufacturer MSRP of the unit with all the options you want and then know you have some negotiating room of around 25%.

RE: 30 amp or 50 amp

I never knew this. I will ensure I pick up a 50amp to 30amp adapter before my next camping trip.

RE: ZT25RK

Seriously cosidered the Zinger when we were shopping for a new TT. Gave them a real good look. Quality and nice decor, unfortunately the floorplan just wasn't right.

RE: What to consider regarding pulling TT

I know it is confusing, but a good idea is to look at the TT and see what it is rated as far as maximum weight. If the TT is rated to not exceed 8000lbs ( that is the total of the TT's own weight and carrying capacity) and your TV is rated to tow 8000lbs then it is not a good idea to get that TT since you would like to be at 80% of your TV rating. 80% of the TV tow rating is 6400lbs in this example.
I hope I have not confused you some more.

RE: Wiring trucks and brakes on travel trailer

My 1999 Suburban was not wired for towing, so I went to U-Haul and paid almost $300.00 to have them rum the 7 wire harness and install a brake controller.
My 2004 Excursion was wired for towing, so I bought a brake controller and wire pigtail for $104.00 and did it myself. All I had to do was find the connector under my dash and connect the pigtail to the brake controller and the connector.

RE: LP Change-over valve - how should it work?

Mine has always functioned properly. Once one tank ran out the system would pull from the full tank. You are probably right, yours may be defective.

RE: Could you live without your bike door?

I ordered the bike tray that slides out from under the rear bumper on my Jayco because I was tired of having the bikes in the TT. No matter how well I thought I secured them inside there always was one that bounced around and did a little damage to a cabinet or wall.

RE: How Many Miles in 2-Weeks?

DC traffic will slow you down quite a bit, especially towing a TT.

RE: Factory Order or Dealer Stock??

I was leary of buying off the internet, turned out the RV Direct dealership was in Albany, NY only 100 miles north of me. The sell locally as Albany RV. They had quite a few units in stock as well were willing to let me customize my order for a new TT. My price was less than the local guy, who was 50 miles north of me, and delivery charges were included. Saving at least $4,200.00.
When I called Giletts RV I was instructed I had to pay to have it shipped to me at a cost of $1750.00 or come pick it up. They wanted $1,000.00 more plus shipping.
At no time did I feel RV Direct was only an internet dealership. They have several dealerships in NY, Ca and Fl. I say shop them and see what you can save and then see what the local guy can do for you.

RE: Seriously Considering a Spree 318bh, but have concerns...

We went from a 27' TT to a 30' TT and now to a 35' TT all in 3 years. Each time we upgraded it was for more room and sleeping quarters for our family of 6. So far no regrets and we don't expect any. The only thing we miss about our two earlier TT's are the memories, but hey we can make new memories.

RE: Picking up new trailer tommorrow.

Congrats. Last year I bought a used TT from a dealer for the first time. When we did the walk through and demostration there was so much to learn , I wished I had another person with me to videotape all the procedures. Later on last summer some things I remembered and some things I could not, but by using this forum and asking more experienced personnel at CG's I always found an answer. Now as I prepare to pick up my new TT I will not be as overwhelmed, but will spend more time asking questions about procedures. Good luck and happy camping.

RE: Factory Order or Dealer Stock??

I ordered my TT through RV Direct, savings a couple thousand, and they gave me more for my trade than I was offered from other dealers. When it came time for me to drop off my trade in they did a walk through and all the paperwork. We then sat down and I picked out the options I wanted.
What was a nice surprise they helped arrange finacing and I received a discount on the purchase price of $500.00 for using one of their financial institutions. I shopped loans also but could not beat the rate they offered.
When my new TT came in, 2 weeks earlier than expected, they agreed to keep her for me, no starage fees, until I was ready to pick her up. So far a very good experience.
As far as warranty work and local dealers go, most warranties are for no more than 2 years, hopefully you will not need to bring her in, if you need warranty work see if a mobile repair facility can do it. Jayco told me the mobile guy near me was authorized. I called him and he said there was no extra fee to come to me and he accepts what Jayco pays for warranty work. So if my new Jayco TT needs warranty work I do not need to bring her to any dealership.

RE: Jayco Interior Color?

FWIW, I ordered the Wheat in my G2 32BHDS in late December, after looking at the interiors at the dealership. Once it was delivered the interior was a little darker due to a change that was made, ask the dealer if the colors have changed.

RE: Extended Warranty

I purchased a 4 year extended warranty on my used TT for $1500.00 . I used it twice in one year. The out of pocket cost was less than $100.00 and the warranty company paid the repair company $300.00 . I traded the TT this year and they will give me a ferund for the remining 3 years.
When I purchased my new TT the dealer asked about an extended warranty I said no. I will take the $1500.00 and put it onto a savings account and if repairs are needed I will pay for them out of that account. I am betting that after 7 years I will have money in the savings account.

RE: Bike rack on a Jayco bumper?

I tried 2 different bike racks on my Jayflight 27bh, both bounced enough with 3 bikes to cause some denting on my TT. I did not weld a receiver on to my frame but did have the dealer install a small "receiver" on the bumper. I used bungy cords and cargo straps to try to stop the bouncing while traveling and was not successful.
When we purchased our new 32bhds one of the selling points was the slide out bike tray. I firmly believe if you want a bike rack you need a carrier on the front of your TV , or on the TT over the propane tanks or have one welded on the frame in the rear.

RE: Anyone Know The "Pecking Order" Of Keystone Trailers?

When I started my search for my 1st new TT I wasnted the best. As I learned the best did not always suit my needs. I wnt with a Jayco 32BHDS for the layout, my family needs and got it new at a great price. I know it is not the top of the line, but it is perfect for me, so I guess for me it is the best.
