Hi All,
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and getting in lots of camping and RVing.
Members: I have received a large number of complaints regarding the ongoing controversy that seems to accompany any inquiry by other Members regarding weapons of any kind, bear spray etc.
To make things pleasant and non offensive for all to enjoy PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP YOU QUESTIONS RESPECTFUL AND KEEP YOUR ANSWERS FACTUAL AND PROVIDE A REFERENCE FOR INQUIRY ONLY. Lets leave the "lively" discussion for the appropriate forum. We all understand that we all have various opinions, and there are not necessarily right/wrong answers to this very touchy subject BUT this is not the place to air them.
To all members we can't expect our "guests" to know all our rules of our "households" so to speak. Lets keep our questions respectful and our answers polite on all topics. We also must be patient with new inquiries as not all have have been on this section before and may not be aware of the large number of discussions on this topic.
This is suppose to be a fun place to talk about our travels, funny stories, camping and RVing experiences. Unfortunately lately it has not been that way for many of our members.
Enjoy your summer all and HAPPY CAMPING!!!

Thanks. When I came on here for the first time, I asked for some info for a newbie and got flamed for not using the search thing. I was new. I didn't know about the search thing or even what to look up. We need to remember that when answering "dumb" questions.

We as americans are making our first trip to the Atlantic Provinces starting a week from next Sunday. We have one question that I have not found the answer for and I do not wish to offend anyone. The question is it is acceptable to refer to Newfoundlanders as (Newfies) My cousin Ned who was a Canadian, and worked at a London, Ont. Locomotive building factory often referred to his co-workers as Newfies, I toured that plant once and was made aware that many of the employees indeed were from Newfoundland. So if anyone could tell me what is proper let me know Thank You

Well, I work on the West Coast with a Newfoundlander who calls himself a "Newfie" in our presence. From our conversations with him, I'd expect if we used it in the sense of "someone from Newfoundland", as opposed to "someone from Newfoundland who is assumed to be stupid as a result", then it's okay. But then again, he's light-hearted and would take it the right way.

& jcarew, I sure hope you find some Newfoundland hospitality hereabouts!!!
You've been doing homework by the term 'Atlantic Canada'.
People notice how you pronouce the name of this island. It's like this: NEW fun LAND Yep, double strong accents. & we have lots of fun and understand many (we hope)
& I, I took the road less travelled by.

No we do not mind being called Newfies or Newfs.
Make sure you do the whole island from the east to west. You'll not regret it and you'll probably be back.
I make it a point to stay at Pippy Park a couple weekends every year. It is literally right in the middle of the city and had full services. I meet lots of people and so many who came once to check things out and now make it an annual event.
