It was a two part catalyzed non-sandable epoxy. The invoice from Finishmaster says FUL-EPOXY PRIMER. The item number is 491-16-4. I see there is a store on US 19 very near the John Deere dealership.

The rivets are AD. I got them from Aircraft Tool Supply and the item numbers for 5/32 are MS 204 70-5, followed by a 4,5,6 or 7, depending on length.

Great Job! Did you consider any type of composite subflooring that is waterproof besides plywood? I also would have gone with a cassette toilet setup. My experience has been that they are much easier to deal with as far as cleaning.

Nice job no matter what!

Most of the composite material is heavy and cost more than plywood. There are some honeycomb products but they are even more pricey. In the end I decided that marine plywood would be an upgrade from the regular ply that lasted, afterall, since 1963. Next time around will be long after I'm gone.

Did give serious thought to a cassette commode. But we decided that we wanted to add a gray tank and if we needed to dump that we might as well have a black tank as well.

Great Job,

In another life I was involved in roadside signs (leasing, selling, installing, etc) We used marine plywood. We used two grades but the only difference was the number of "plugs" on the sign side and number of knots on the backside. Didn't like the job but had to do something after Vietnam. That was 40 years ago.

Plenty of the road side signs with the marine plywood are still standing with no rot. I feel you made the right choice. Ask if the wood is treated with CCA as it is toxic and will leech up through almost anything. CCA may all be off the market by now.

The update this week represents a major milestone. First, a brief diversion to deal with batteries. Pretty much all of the real estate along the sides of the trailer is to be occupied by appliances that require ventilation. The back is not good due to the weight and the teeter-totter effect. That left the front. Early in the project we picked up at a salvage yard a pair of battery boxes, with hatch covers. These were positioned on either side of the front middle section of the trailer. While that would work, it intrudes into the space to be occupied by the reclining sofa in the living space. That left the tongue. I got an aluminum battery box. It was hinged at the top and, unfortunately, when in position you couldn't open the door without hitting the threaded rod for the propane tanks. So, off came the piano hinge, I ground down the welds, added a piece of angle with bucked rivets and then added three draw catches similar to the ones used on the rockguard. The result looks like this.

Now, while the propane tanks have to be taken off to service the batteries, the rod can stay in place and no tools are necessary.

The interior has been painted. Took three topcoats.

The window hardware has been installed and most of the peripheral electrical fixtures are in.

Just inside the entry door is a little panel I made for switches for the front and rear patio lights and the kitchen overhead lights, which, by the way, are all LED's.

Next week the project turns to woodwork. Woohoo!

This is awesome man to see the progress and the final result. It takes alot of love and dedication for the airstream restoration. Good job.
Will you be incorporating any solar energy items for this restoration?
