I have a Panasonic GP-RV112 monitor and GP-RV111 camera, factory installed in our Southwind that now flickers when it's on. Remember the old B/W TV's with the horizontal hold adjustment? That's what it acts like. We have checked and ruled out the following:
  • Secure video cable connection to the camera
  • Secure video cable connection to the monitor
  • Secure power connection to the monitor

Thought maybe it was noised created by the generator but the flickering remains even with the genset off. Now here is the kicker - it stops flickering when driving UNDER a bridge!

Any ideas?

I've got an Audiovox Voyager that does the same thing on occasion--except the bridge fix.

Subscribed and curious.

Maybe I can help, does it do it all the time or just every now and then?

Mine does the flickering thing also when I apply the brakes or use the turn signals. I found that these cameras are very sensitive to voltage changes. I wired mine straight to the battery and it helped a lot but still flickers sometimes. Does yours have a wireless camera because of the tunnel thing?? John M.

Is the Receiver (Screen) also a TV ? It may be picking up an On Air signal of some sort.

Jeff one I have noticed with my camera is if I have it tipped up to see further back and the sun is behind me sometimes it will "freak out" for a while! Tipping it down a little sometimes helps or the next turn in the road or the sun dropping a little further "solves" it.

Good Evening Everyone - Thanks for the input! To answer some of your questions, this unit is hard wired, not wireless. I had suspected sunlight might be an issue but it also does when I turn it on while parked in indoor parking. And, it seems to be doing more often now (almost every time we drive anywhere)

Haven't checked the ground yet but will tomorrow evening.

Thanks all for your input!

Mr Jeff,
While the problem is there, push your DAY/NITE SWITCH (if equipped)to see if it makes any difference. As well, try the POWER SWITCH. Good Luck,

I didn't have that problem...had another when new. Driving in a real bad rainstorm, putting the turn signals, the backup camera went on and off with the turnsignals! Back to the dealer...a large bunch of wires just under the rear bumper...he took off the "protection" wrapping...hit the wires with a hair dryer, re-wrapped everything and all is, and has been, well ever since.

Your problem might sound like a bad ground. goodluck
