if you want light not necessarily really short check out the EverLite TTS thread, nicest light weight trailers I have seen in a long time. no wood, novel floorplans, upgraded stuff in them, etc.

We really liked the Rpods when we were lookikng. I'm glad we ended up with the used 2006 jayco jay feather 197. we had the same concerns about weight, too.

I second the nod on the Jayco 197. We have a 2008 and it's a great trailer. Lots of bang for the buck and tows very well.

We have a 17 ft Escape and pull with a Toyota Tacoma. We have plenty of power and love the quality of the Escape. We've had ours three camp seasons and camp almost every weekend from March to November and 4 weeks of holidays. We are campin' fools!!

Second hand Escapes are almost impossible to get because the sell so fast which should give you some idea as to how well they hold their value.

We have run a 16ft FunfinderX for a couple years now and are in the process of swapping out the vehicle (06 Jeep Liberty) for something a little more substantial. It may be rated to 5000lbs, but at altitude (mile-hi) it's not happy.
We love the TT. It seems well built and the appliances are those you find in larger TTs costing much more. We see no reason to believe that this little guy will last us until we are ready to move up in about 5 to 7 years. The stronger tow vehicle will now give us the freedom to roam with greater diversity of terrain.
The thing we didn't like about the fiberglass units was the rounded corners and some designs were more intrusive than others (it cut into the head room). The only thing that wasn't designed well in our unit was the TV arrangement. It's above the refrig (at the ceiling), right next to the dining table. It was virtually impossible to comfortably watch tv without getting a neck ache. We took care of this by leaving the TV home. I use my laptop with a TV tuner in it and set it on the table against the bulkhead. We can see it from everywhere and we are not toting around a heavy TV.
For towing it we ended up getting an anti-sway device because the short wheelbase could sometimes make for a scary ride (wind and passing semis). Once we did that it rode very nicely. It just doesn't have the power for the Rocky Mountains.

Over on Casita Club forum as well as FiberglassRv forum, there are some towing with not only Jeep Liberties but with Jeep Wranglers & Rubicons. Casita's are made in Texas, should have more used ones around....but one never knows what will turn up. Maybe you can open this Classifieds
Fiberglass For Sale
I agree with deserthawk and so does RV.org who rates them all.
Casita was rated the number one in quality with Scamp coming in second by less than 0.5%
You have to buy their ratings on disk.
But that was four years ago so...

The DW and I just went to an RV show and saw the new KZ Sportsmen 14RB. It's small (2020 lbs dry weight) and the jeep should be able to handle it, but check your owners manual to confirm. The retro styling was a plus for us. Still researching on it myself, but for a small TT it seems ok. Price was very nice (Show price around $6000, online price about $8050). Size was ok for 2 people on short trips. Only real drawback I saw was the small water tanks (10 fresh, 9 black, 15 grey) which would almost require daily or every other day servicing. There was also a 14RK which only weighed 1850 pounds dry. Main differences were a 5 gallon black tank and a shower with the toilet mounted inside it. The floorplan was moved around as well. You can see the floorplans at www.kz-rv.com and pull the specs.
I dont know what the raters say about this one, so you might want to look into that. I just havent gotten that far yet.
Happy Trails!
