I wanted to replace the cheap, loud, buzz-n-whirr fan in the bathroom of our trailer, but I didn't want to replace the whole vent and the Maxx-Air cover that we have. I found the Vortex Fan, from Heng's Industries, and it seemed to be what I was looking for, but I couldn't find much information on it, and I was concerned about the quality.
I decided to order one from Amazon, for about $50, including shipping. I received it today. It seems to be well made. It was an easy job removing the old screen and fan from the vent, using the existing wiring, and mount the new fan in place. It looks great, is quieter, and moves alot of air. I'm glad I choose this route, instead of buying a more expensive fantastic fan, which would have required a full vent replacement.

This job took about 1/2 an hour, and was all done from inside the trailer. It was very easy, and the results are great. The only negative is that the vent doesn't let as much light in now.

Thanks for that. It looks just like what I want to do. I have the same reasons you stated. I'd like a quieter, more efficient fan without a complete replacement.

Another job well done. I like the looks of that fan. It looks like a much better option than the "buzz-n-whirr" fan as you put it.

I just came across this thread, this is a neat idea. I was dreading replacing our typical bathroom fan after using it for the first time in the real world.
I did not know any better at the time sadly when I installed it new
Just curious how this fan works vacating "steam" and "smells"?
The regular one does not do a good job at all, I don't care about the noise factor myself.

The fan does a great job at pulling steam and air out of the trailer. It is MUCH more efficient than the original one.

Upgraded my fan by adding a wall switch. My DW and kids are too vertically challenged to reach the button on the fan, so I took a cue from my house bathroom and replaced the single light switch with a dual gang switch, one for the light and the other for the fan. I found a matching switch on eBay. Here are some pics of the project:

It's little projects like these that make me wonder why they don't do this at the factory. It would add little to the cost, and it makes a big difference in livability. Now my kids don't have to stand on the toilet to turn on the fan.
