Once again we are loading up for our drive south. And while most food and household items are available, there are always a few things we bring with us that are hard to find.
So far our short list is:
my favorite salad dressing - Ken’s Raspberry and Walnut
caffeine free Diet Coke
diabetic snack bars
Christmas lights
Christmas pudding
Christmas crackers (you know those funny tubes with paper hats inside)

What are you bringing -- what are we missing?

Stop off at Trader Joes and stock up with 2 buck chuck wine. The mexican padre kino is terrible. Everything else can be purchased in Mexico.

I tend to stock up on paper products like napkins and tp. I just prefer our quality.

I'm freakin speechless. Could it be that Angela and I are the only Gringos left out there with good taste for wine?. It's just....aw never mind.

Well, we USED to stock up on the Bombay gin, but read recently they limit that and might check, so forget that. A few big jars of Jif extra crunchy, good paper plates (mostly styrofoam and the paper ones you can read through there), cat and dog food (they're fussy) and cat litter (had to use beach sand for a while once: he wasn't happy). Everything else I buy there, I can LIVE on glorious vegetables and seafood!

I'm the fussy-budget in our family, and I've learned to adapt to many things we can get right here in Mexico, but there are still a few things I bring or beg from NOB, so if any of you are coming to or through Mazatlan, and would have room to bring some things for me, I'd happily buy you lunch or dinner.

Meantime, some comments on above lists:

I bought JIF extra crunchy peanut butter today, at the Mega store in Mazatlan.

I regularly buy Kleenex dinner napkins at either the Soriana or the Ley stores.

I agree that most TP here is pretty sad, but I buy Member's Mark at Sam's Club, and it's fine. Soft and doesn't crumble all over the floor, at least.

Unless you particularly want to bring your own Christmas lights, don't bother.... there are tons in the stores.

I agree with Barilou & Fujimo... I can live on fresh seafood and veggies! As long as I have the peanut butter for an occasional sandwich, I'm happy!

What I can't get here, and really do need, is some of my nutrition bars... hint, hint... if anyone is coming my way and wouldn't mind bringing them for me.

Everyone have good safe trips. Lee

Canned tomatoes (stewed chopped etc), many of the recipes that we like called for these. Could not find them in Costco or Walmart in Hermosillia.

Forgot to mention...we bring vegetable soup base cubes too. We could find chicken and beef but never plain vegetable. And on another note..tampons. Very difficult to find tampons in Mexico. Pads are easy. Or am I just not looking in the right place????
