Hello, This is my first post.

I'm looking for a trailer. When I was a kid my family used to camp all the time.

My dad had a coachmen cadet bunkhouse. One of the cool features of this trailer that I can't seem to find in any of the newer trailers is that it had a table in the front (booth), and a table in the rear (before you went into the bunk area).

My grandpa had a trailer (I don't know the make although after looking around online I suspect it was a Taurus) which also had two tables.

As a kid I remember this being very handy as we always seemed to go camping with other family members and it was nice to have a table for the "adults" and one for the kids.

I'm having trouble finding out what makes and models had two tables. I would love to end up with a coachmen cadet bunkhouse like dad had, but I'm not super picky. Can anyone help me come up with a list of trailers that came with two tables?

Thanks,

Chad

Not sure I have any information to offer you, but wanted to say that I grew up with the same Coachmen Cadet bunkhouse floorplan as you. What memories! Thanks for posting, and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Our Outback does not have a table in the bunkhouse but one will fit between the bunks. We have a half width card table that works but the legs could be taken off a card table and put on something narrower and longer. Of course the slowest eating child would have to be on the inside.

I'm not really looking for a table are inside the bunk house. And for that matter I'm not really only interested in bunk houses. I'm just interested in older RVs that had two tables.

The one we had was exactly like this one:

The pics here don't show a rear table, but there is a spot for a table around that seating area before going into the bunkhouse.

We had a '77 Aristocrat that had the dinette across the front that would seat 4. Between double & single gauchos in the rear, there was a fold-down/up table with 3 extension boards that would easily seat 6. That was a nifty arrangement that allowed you comfortably feed at least 10 people.

Chad,

Growing up our neighbors had that 78 coachman bunkhouse. In the early 90's friends of mine inherited one. We did an "extreme makeover" on it and completely removed the bunkhouse. We made that area into a big living room/master bedroom. Since it had a high ceiling it also had a ceiling fan up there. They used it for several years on a permanent site. They finally passed that one to their son who ultimately sold it a few years later. It's still sitting in the spot he delivered it too. I still see it parked in a back yard near here. Let's just say it serves as a guest house for relatives from south of the border now.

My folks had a 72 Terry that had two dinettes. I don't have a floor plan but there is a picture of it in my profile. We did exactly that... adults up front, kids at the "L" shaped booth in the rear. There were 7 of us in that trailer. Nowadays they just aren't built for those big families. What memories!

I think that Terry is exactly like what my grandpa had. Did the inside of it look similar to this one:

It seems to me like these older RVs were very creative on how they used space because space was limited. Today's RVs with the 2, 3, and 4 slides are neat and spacious, but just don't seem to be as cleverly designed.
