my local costco's instore battery display does not have them, but they sometimes have them in the automotive shop

this store has (2) areas that have batteries, the lawn garden Mc and off shelf small car batteries are in the main store

the 6v & heavy duty batteries are in the automotive shop

it took me several years to find those in the auto shop, because i never looked past the rack in the store.

Interesting about the different Costco answers. I was just in there a few minutes ago. No 6 volts on the rack. There was a guide book hanging on the rack with the following Costco part numbers:

GC2 - 245725 - 100 min reserve
GC8 - 256726 - 110 min reserve

Neither part number would come up in the computer at the customer service desk so they could not even check other stores. I found the floor manager and he said they have not carried them for years since they generally sat on the shelf and died.

Down the street the local Sams has the GC2 for $71.28

Costco doesn't sell 6 volt batteries

Oh, I didn't know that. I know they used to sell 6, 8 and 12 volt batteries.

Uhh, yes they do sell 6V Golf Cart Batteries and I just bought 4 of them there. $75 ea plus the State disposal fee of $9. They only had three on the shelf when I went in at first before I took my Toy Hauler in to get them and they got one from another Local Costco.

They did all the removal from the tight spot they fit in, reconnected all wires to make 12v. They even tested them with a Hydrometer and Battery Tester at my request before we put them in

Can't say enough about the Great Service I got from them. But maybe not all of them sell them or is a State thing.

OBTW I have never seen an 8V Battery anywhere of the vehicle type. Is that a Marine or Aircraft application?

I do know that back in the 50s & 60s some battery shops built 8 volt batteries to start the big engines in Cadillacs Lincolns & such that still ran 6 volt systems & then along came 12 volt systems.

My understanding is that 8 volt batteries are used in some golf carts and electric cars. Since they are wired in series, you can use fewer batteries and get the same voltage. This is done to save cost and to make the vehicle lighter. Downside - shorter range and battery life.

Depends on the costco. The one right by my house? no, the one 15 miles away? yes and a lot of them. The same with Walmart.

Pauljdav,

Which one has the 6V batteries?

Thanks

Yeah, some of the people there are clueless. They seem unable to make a connection between their own part number and a stocking store.

Here is a post I saved from Harry Havasu a while back:

"Call your closest store and ask the Courtesy Desk to do "A Regional Search" on their computer for item #245725. Within 60 seconds they will tell you where it is available and how many are in stock Then, they give you the tire store phone number for that store. Call them for a 6v count and you are in business. They can't give out prices.
