Yeah, Pick me up on the way by. I will be standing at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. LOL

There is a Yogi Bear Campground in Emporia, VA that we use on our trips south. It's just off 95.

Have a safe trip.

You should schedual your trip so you are going from Miami to Key West after 10 AM. That way all the rush traffic will be gone. I hope you have reservations, as they are usualy booked this time of year. Fuel up before you go, as prices are high.

Best advice I could offer is stay away from DC. Go the 301 route. Brings you out just above Richmond on 95. Wishing you a great trip!!!
And also wishing I was going

After many years of contemplating that rt301 bypass i finally took it last spring, conclusions?lots of small towns and traffic lights to deal with, many potentially dangerous intersections, several construction zones that backed up traffic,Staying on I-95 then I-495 traffic may get heavy around the Baltimore/Washington area but i think its the more expedient way to go if you are not dealing with rush hour traffic.

rickryg,

If you are going all the way down to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, you might consider stopping in the rest area at the north side of the bridge. I usually stop there and then continue on about 3 or 4 in the morning to avoid the Norfolk area traffic. From there, we stop at South of the Border campground ( Pedro's) they have full hook-up pull throughs at a good price. I would stop to eat before I got there, the food is not the greatest in the world.

Have a good trip.

Eventually went down the Delmarva peninsula. Nice drive and it appears to be an alternative to 95 albeit longer. However south of Virginia the eastern alternatives to 95 are considerably longer but in portions more picturesque. Going from NJ to Key West in a week is too short and too long.

We're right near Cape May, and you need at least two weeks to do South Florida. In February, we are doing two nights south, five nights in the Keys, three nights with family in the Stuart area, five nights in the Sarasota area, then two nights home. The two days south and north will be have to be long 400 mile days, but the other trips are only around 200 miles each. Meandering up the east coast is fun, but not in February!
