This is plagarism from the La Penita Express: Talking about Nogales:
"Murray found out you can pre-register for your car permit at the border. You fill out the form on line and you get a number. You take the number and your original documents to the 21km check point and they will have your importation permit ready. I checked the website and it is all there, in English! We will let him try it. If I had known a day ago we could have done it for the caravan. It may have saved a lot of time. The website is http://www.banjercito.com.mx/site/siteBanjer/iitv/instruccionesIITV.html choose"ënglish"and follow the instructions. You can do it up to a day before you leave for Mexico. You can also pay on line and have the papers sent to you by courier."

Thanks Lew,

We will attempt to do that this year. I'm Hoping that We can specify the Lukeville/Sonoyta Checkpoint as an alternative to Nogales, but it really isn't a big deal either way We cross!

You can use any crossing.

That's why they give you the case number. They just call your case up on the computer, print out your paperwork, collect your money, and give your your documents and hologram.

If you pay on-line with a credit card, they send you the paperwork and you just get an entry signature and date on it at whatever border crossing you're using. They may even go out and confirm the vehicle info personally; but the 'old' guard just pushed the paperwork and hologram across the desk and that was it.

You can also get your FM-T on-line.

Well it seems that the Mexican Government hasn't taken into account that Visitors from Canada don't live in one of the 50 US States. They haven't included Provinces in their application so consequently at this point We are unable to proceed in using the On Line application!
Maybe someone in the Mexican Government will read this and address the issue!

I was just checking out the site and notice that if you change the country to Canada it does list the provinces. I haven't done mine yet but plan on doing it before coming down in December. Anything that will speed up process but last year when we came through Lukeville we were all finished in about 20 minutes - Can't beat that.

I am getting hung up on the "Are you towing a trailer" question. I already have a ten-year permit for my TT. If I put "No" on the form, I am lying. If I put "yes", then I get all sorts of questions about VIN, type, etc. Presumably leading to a new, not needed, permit for the TT when all I need is one for the tow vehicle. I will try again later today.

We crossed a couple days ago and had pre-registered.....this works slicker than snot!!!! It still took a bunch of time to pay for our tourist visas, but the permit for the vehicle went totally smooth. The gal at the Banercito took our pre-registration and document copies, quickly did a check of the info, asked for our vehicle license number and then reached for our credit card to process the payment. Total time for 3 vehicles travelling together was under 40 minutes, including time for the FMT's. The only thing that didn't happen was that on the online registration site it says there will be a special window for pre-registered vehicles......Good luck! maybe next year!
This is a HUGE improvement on previous years!!!!! Next year I will do this far enough ahead to have the vehicle permit sent to me by FedEx.

As for the concern about entering the Vin for your trailer, answer Yes and enter the Vin, then when you get to the Banrcito tell the clerk you have a 10 yr permit....no problem at all.
