My puppy is just 6 months old and I caught him eating a rock, when I tried to get him to give it up, he just swallowed it.

I have a dog run where he goes to do his business, and it's filled with smooth pebbles, these are what he's eating.

Anybody got any ideas how to stop this behavior?

When you figure it out, let me know! I have a 9 1/2 yr old Golden Retriever that STILL eats rocks! As long as they come out the other end, you'll bee good. I also look at it this way..... rocks are WAYYYYYYY cheaper than dog treats! He would eat $100 worth per week if I offered him the swap! LOL

My Jazz did that when she was younger, sounded like a kid scratching a chauk board. She graduated to twigs and firewood. Bill

I thought Maggie ate rocks, too, but it turned out that she was eating rabbit snacks. Still loves them!!

Most puppies chew on rocks to help cut the back teeth.

My little dog eats cat dropping , she will get out to the front yard and dig around till she finds one and comes in the house to eat it. If I catch her I have to pry it out of her mouth and she fights me all they way. She has lots of treats but she likes to eat this?

Ours ate the running boards on or Expedition, the seats off our bicycles, the brake wires under our pop-up AND she ate rocks...

We let her go about a year ago..she was a great dog and we miss her.
