After studing the pictures, Dave may be right. The tub/shower was probably installed before the vanity was put in.

Here are todays photos - got up on the roof and started to reseal the seams and replace the first of the roof vents - got distracted by my handylady friend who is going to help with the plumbing so spent the afternoon at Lowes and Home Depot being relieved of Mucho Dinero

This has been the 'office' for today - it's a fiberglass roof which is in suprisingly good condition after 25 years of CA and AZ sun - I know rubber roofs are meant to be good but what will they be like after 25 years especially if they have not been maintained.

First job was to remove as much of the old sealant as possible - not very successful that idea - it's rock hard and eternabond was the only way to go but I did run a bead of Dicor along the crack seam a couple of days ago.

By the way, unless your edge is completely flat you will get ridges in your eternabond - I know this came up recently in another thread and everyone said that it should not come from the repair shop with ridges and flutes - trust me - it will do!

The more I use the eternabond the more I like it - however the surfaces must be really clean so I used prep-all or pre-paint to clean it of grease, dust and oxidized gellcoat.

I mentioned earlier how the Maxair vent cover had masked the state of the vents - here you can see what I mean - the sealant had cracked and my was it dirty.

Fortunately all the screws came out easily and it's heading for the junk pile.

All that was left was to remove the old sealant - I found that if I soaked it in Prep-All and then used a heavyduty scraper, it came away. Just cleaned it off afterwards and we are ready to install the new Ventline vent tomorrow and repeat with the bathroom vent.

By the way, I used Dicor self levelling lap sealant that I got from Camping World for some areas but then used C-10 sealant from Amazon for the rest - the C10 is much more fluid and flows much better than the Dicor - I much prefer it.

Tomorrow is finish off the seams and replace the vents and hopefully make a start of the plumbing.

Day 4's report which comprised replacing the two vents and trying to sort out dash electrics - my nemesis!

I had already cleaned one of the vents yesterday so the first job was to fit the new ventline vent. I ran a strip of mastic on a roll around the edge to begin with.

I aligned the new vent - they are nothing like the quality of the previous unit with it's full width fan, themostatic operation etc but neither was it $250 - I picked up two of the cheap Ventline units for $32 for the pair. Everything is being done on a budget.

Here's the unit all screwed down and the excess mastic that squeezed out was trimmed away with the utility knife.

And finally the finished job with all the edges covered in Eternabond - the two 50' rolls of 4" Eternabond were the best purchase so far - it's awesome stuff. Just wish I could have found it in Colonial White but it's the roof that no-one sees.

I then made a start on the bathroom vent by removing the Maxair cover and oh my, the vent cover had disintegrated and the pastic just dusted in my hands - what a mess.

After 20 minutes I had it cleaned up ready for the new vent. The process was the same as the other vent.

This time I decided to keep the Maxair cover - the bathroom needs a vent working even in wet weather due to the shower so the cover made sense.

I finished up on the roof by running a bead of C10 sealant along the edges of the fiberglass to seal that edge and installed a 20W solar panel, dropping the leads down the refrigerator 'chimney'. It's just there to maintain the chassis battery when it's in storage - remember we are in Havasu so sun is something we have plenty of

I then made a start on the dash which has no wiring diagram, had odd fuses all over the place and cut wires everywhere - this is gonna take some time.

The first problem is with the heating and ventilation - I have no blower switch so need to see if Napa sell them tomorrow but also all of the vacuum lines have become disconnected from their plug - and I have no idea which one goes where LOL - have to be a bit of trial and error - at least I know which one sucks

That's it for today - I have all the plumbing supplies now - $300 worth of shark fittings and 100' of new PEX so may do that tomorrow if my help arrives otherwise I'll continue with the dash.

I will suggest you NOT use the "shark" fitting. Yes they are easy however they concentrate too much pressure on too small of an area and this could lead to fatifue of the tubing. Even the PVC and CPVC manufacturers are concerned due to this issue.

Every RV repair person I have spoken to has spoken very highly of the sharks. The brass ones, not the knock off PVC ones.

Compared to the original PEX fittings that I have had on a 2004 Itasca and a 2002 Beaver which both developed several leaks over the years, the Sharks appear to be a much better alternative and are approved for 'blind' installation behind showers etc.

I'll let you know how I get on with them and see if they stand up over time.

Just as a side note - my wife installed Allure flooring in the FMC after I removed the old carpet. Looks great and is completely waterproof. We had used it in the house before. My sister thought it was hardwood.

Hi Tim

Yes, I have the Allure flooring to go down when the rest of the interior is done. I've decided to lay the living room area at 45 degrees. It's a bit more work but I think it will have quite a nice visual impact.

I see that they do 'stone tile' effect flooring in the same system too.

I was going to lay carpet in the hallway, bathroom and bedroom but have decided to lay Allure in there - I'll have to use some carpet to cover the 'boxes' but that should offset the starkness of all laminate floors plus DW can choose some nice rugs.

Did you notice any increase in noise when replacing carpet with Allure? I just wonder if it's going to have less sound deadening?

Hey Steve -
Fist saw your posts over on irv2 - good to see you are progressing. A couple of things - the water piping you have, I believe, is polybutylene, that is the same thing we have in our '87 Marquis - PEX was the product that replaced the polybutyl after many complaints of failure.
The silver thing you are asking about looks very much like the level sensor we have for the HWH leveler jack system - ours is located up front - would make sense to place it back near the middle of the coach. If it does go to the water heater then that is weird and I have no idea

It is good to see the old girl coming back - IMHO the old ones are well worth the effort!

Good luck - will be lurking around and marveling at your work!!

Take care ---

My big question is what are you going to do with your self once its all done. Your going like gang busters, you have tons of momentum - that momentum has got to be released somewhere, once everything is fixed.
