We are heading out to High Desert tomorrow and I was thinking of going to El Mirage but then thought Johnson Valley would be fun as well. Problem with Johnson Valley is I don’t know the “spots” as well.. Last time (the only time) we camped right on Soggy just off of Bessemer Mine Road (just after you drop down into the lake bed)… I hear people say the conditions (dust and wind) are better if you keep going on Bessemer a ways (6+ miles..) Not sure where you would go camping out there but I obviously need room since I’m pulling 34 feet of trailer… Any recommendations or tips…?

I would definitely recommend Johnson Valley... there is an area about 5 miles north of Soggy that we (D37 racing community) call the "rock pile"... its a pretty open area to camp. once you crest the road and start to go back down at about the 5 mile mark you can see on the left past the rock pile area. not bad camping there.

well the last 5 miles is better than the first part anyway.. and yes you stay straight up Bessemer. the only really bad part of the road is at the crest, where it gets a bit rocky. just take that slow and you will be fine.

we have pulled our 30ft out there and have been fine.
