Hi All.
We are current owners of a 2008 Jayco Seneca 35GS and have enjoyed our RV experience with it for well over 10,000 miles. Having said that, we have been considering an upgrade to a Monaco Dynasty DP and would like feedback from other Super C owners who have had a Monaco DP or similar A class product. What are some of the advantages or disadvantages? Benefits to the Super C over the A class or vice-versa? With purchasing opportunities the way that they are in the RV world right now, is it a good time to swith to a DP? Any feedback would be appreciated. We would also like to hear from those Super C owners who have considered this same move but have re-considered for whatever reason.
Thank you in advance.

I have an '08 Monaco 39' DP. You'll be very happy going to an A class DP.

Not a Monaco owner, but I've thought about a Super C as a possible future RV just for service alone. No greasy techs on the inside of the rig for engine compartment checks and service. Shouldn't be charged extra on service since it's basically a standard truck chassis with a "different" box in back.

Take a real long test drive. I failed to do that before I bought a new DP. Kept it a month and got a Seneca. I hated the way it drove and the feeling of being first to the accident. If I wanted more luxury, I would go to a higher quality Super C. I also hated going out the front of the bus every time. It was certainly more luxurious but I hated it.

We have thought about steping up to the new Diplomat SKQ, I like the Super C, but DW would like more room; The Super C is cheaper on the the service end than a Class A is, just in the labor cost. Class A with air suspension is a nice ride. Super C rides like a truck, go figure right. Who knows, might just do it... Good luck with your quest...

Diane & Doug,

We have owned 2 Class A motorhomes....one gas and the most recent was a 2003 Phaeton 40' diesel pusher. We now have a Seneca 35GS. There are definitely pluses and minuses to both. I miss the air ride of the DP, but love the manueverability of the Seneca. Just yesterday, we were driving around in a crowded parking lot with curbs all over the place and pulling a 20' tandem axle trailer. It was a piece of cake compared to the old days driving the DP. As others have said, I also like having that crumple zone in front of us.

If I were to 'move up' to anything new, I would be looking at one of the HDT chassis conversions, like a Renegade or something like that. But first, I'd need to rob a bank!!!

I was in the same boat as you two years ago. I thought I wanted to trade my Class C on a Kodiak chassis for a class A. I went and took a Holiday Rambler (sister to the Monaco) for a nice long test drive and found I did not like driving a class A at all. I decided to buy a heavier duty class C and have been very happy with my decision.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag. My wife and I are keen on a used Prevost that we can travel with on extended vacations in the lower 48 and thought that the travel would be better suited in a Prevost than a Seneca. The suggestions to first test drive the DP is good and one that we will ensure we do before we make any "big decisions".
Happy Trails!!!
