Rumors are IPhone will drop ATT and go to Verizon, as coverage with ATT is not good.

I saw that article, but I wonder if - since Verizon will reportedly subsidize the phone to a much lesser extent - if the price will be higher to consumers or if Apple will eat $150 per phone. It would be hard to believe that iPhone will be able to command a premium over the Droid. In fact it would be interesting - if the Droid is a smash hit - to see if Verizon even wants to bother with the iPhone subsidy.

Sorry for tugging this thread so far off topic!

And that is very location dependent. Verizon and T-Mobile have very poor coverage "here", which is why all the locals tend to use AT&T. I don't care for AT&T, but no coverage with the other providers.

Next time you see the new Verizon commercial with the maps, read the fine print at the bottom. It states the map does not depice actual coverage. AT&T's 3G map has way more coverage than they are depicting in the ad. Verizon still has better coverage in some areas, but they are not showing actual coverage.

that rumor has been floating around since the iPhone hit the market 2 yrs ago.

and thats all it is RUMOR

I know $$$ can make for strange 'bed fellows' , but the new Droid adv's running on TV, are really going hard core against the iPhone, and doesn't sound much like apple & vzw have resolved any business differences

We use Around Me, Flixster and The Weather Channel in our travels. I've been waiting for a good APP on Campgrounds, but the one listed on the Blog doesn't get good reviews. The other one I found isn't much better. Only good thing is they are both only 99 cents.

Vicky I also use a pretty neat app called GPS Tracker that allows people to track your travels (only when you have the app running.
If your taking a trip the family seems to get a kick out of seeing where your at real time.

From those well-known rumor-mongers at Computerworld Magazine (yesterday):
Apple to ink Verizon-iPhone deal next year, analyst says

As I indicated before, I really don't see an upside for Verizon in a deal like this.

I had Verizon before going to the iPhone. My experience is the map is fairly accurate west of the Mississippi River. The only area on the map I know they got wrong is Jackson, WY has AT&T 3G (not shown on the map). East of the Mississippi AT&T coverage is much better and a toss up as far as I am concerned. Since I tend to camp in public parks and forests I've always found coverage by either almost nil. AT&T wifi has been more important with my iPhone at private campgrounds and more importantly when driving at places like Starbucks and McDonalds. At home most of the time it is a moot point. AT&T is well covered where I live.
