I've been researching the national forest campgrounds in the Bighorns, north part and south and have a couple of questions.

are most of them big rig friendly?
(not far off highway, fairly level, easy maneuvering)
and
where can you re fill your water tank if you need to?
I see where you can dump at Burgess Junction or down near Leigh campground, but find no other water sources listed other than hand pumped water.

one more question:
has anyone stayed at Sibley Creek campground?

thanks

We have stayed at Tie Flume. Our fiver is 38' overall with a long box dually pickup. We also had room to drop the rear ramp on our toyhauler as you can see from the pics. I would not recommend Dead Swede or Owens Creek most if not all of their sites were smaller. Bearlodge Resort has hookups but it does not have a "campground feel", probably because of the permanant mobile homes mixed with full time trailers. Mostly we boondock. Better to call ahead and make sure the dump station at Burgess Junction is open, it was closed in 2008, open in 2009. Wish I had more info but we mostly boondock. Btw you will see lots of wildlife, especially moose, we've had a few come literally through camp. Below are pics of Tie Flume and the stream behind our campsite. Enjoy it's beautiful up there!

I forgot to mention we have scoped out sites at Sibley Lake and the campsites on the right hand side are bigger. We would have felt comfortable getting in there. As far as water...I would call Bear Lodge Resort or The Passage Resort or Arrowhead Lodge. If you want to do some exploring on top of the mountain there is a nice lodge (only accessible by snowmobile in the winter) it's tucked away off the road, might be a nice play to stop by and have lunch, etc. Wyoming High Country

I'd second Tie Flume. Enjoyed our stay back in 2006, a couple picks from an earlier post

Stayed at Owen Creek back in 2004, enjoyed that too, but when we returned in 2006, all the trees were gone, and decided to look around a bit, which is how we stumbled upon Tie Flume.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Bighorns and Tie Flume specifically for an extended stay.

The sites were very roomy, both in length and in space between neighbors.

The boys loved the stream, and the granite outcrops to climb on. I still use this picture as my screen background, over three years later

thanks very much for the info. we've driven through both north and south passes, but never stopped to camp, so am determined to get in there for several days and do some exploring in the jeep.

Few more pics of Tie Flume, could have fit a pair of 24'C RVs at our site, with room to spare.
