Will be heading south this winter and have bought enough US cash for the trip. Can you put it in a US bank and get a debit card the same day or what. What do you do?? Canadian.

WalMart...That is what I do. It is impossible to estimate how much cash we will use. I'm not Canadian but I assume you have a credit card. Go to Walmart, buy a pack of gum and get 60 usd change. Your better half can do the same and get another 60 usd. No service charge. That is how we do it. Easy....

Same here, bank of Wal-Mart.
Bring enough cash for the first few days then use your bank card. Holding a big wad of cash is asking for trouble

Yes, you could open an account at a US bank. A debit card is usually mailed to you in about 2 weeks or so.

However, as others indicated, there is no reason to open a new bank account if you already have a debit card with your present bank.

Hide it really well and don't do that again!

We withdraw Cash from an ATM Using Our Canadian Bank Card whenever we need some. When Our account gets too low it is time to head Home. If necessary We use a Credit Card for purchases, Wal*Mart and Other Major stores will give You Cash Back if You really Need some Extra Folding stuff!

put your money in the bank and use your credit card to pay for everything, then pay off your credit card. Your credit card should generate enough points to pay for itself, and give you some nice travel or merchandise benefits.
