Yeah, I know it doesn't make sense, but it clearly states that any use of a pinbox that utilizes a wedge or something of that nature to change the rotating point of the hitch would void the warranty. I just hate to try the Companion and cut a large hole in the bed to do so only to find that it is just too close of a call. I still need a gooseneck though so I may be limited anyway.

So you don't have a gooseneck in the truck already? If you don't, get a standard fiver hitch rail and buy one of the many gooseneck adapters that are sold. Or, just put a gooseneck adapter on your fiver.

don why do you say 5.9L from early 07, or get an 09 6.7L. Am I missing something? Are there problems with the 07 6.7L?

The first 6.7s in the 2007.5 Rams had emmision problems and gave the 6.7 a bad reputation. Dodge has fixed that problem with re-flashes on the truck's computer. I have had zero problems with my 08 even before the reflash was done.

There are somes guys that are still having problems but most of them have done significant aftermarket modicifations.

Mainly because the 07 early 08 6.7's have had a lot more issues than the 09's. Personally I have an 07 6.7L and it has been back to the shop several times for emission problems and I only have about 6000 miles on it. It appears that the latest flash (AQ) I think may have helped tremendously. BY all reports the late 08 and 09 models seem to have the emission issues ironed out. If you do not want to bother with the emission equipment and don't mind sacrificing the 6 speed auto the early 07 5.9L is arguably the best of the breed. Live and learn

Well I've got one of the first 07.5's and it's been a great truck. I have had a few CEL but most are cleared before I even get a chance to have them checked by the dealer. I had an 04.5 5.9 and loved it as well but would not trade my 6.7 for the 5.9. The 6 speed auto is awesome with the EB. I have 69K miles so far and still like the day I drove it off the lot. The mileage has suffered 1-2 miles per gallon but the truck as a whole is the best IMO. The megacab is really nice with families that travel. We have 2 teen boys and travel a lot during the summer months. Tons of room and storage and great towing power for our 5th wheel. I would highly recommend the 3500 MC for a TV.

On that note, what kind of mileage do you guys see with a DRW Megacab 4x4? Solo and towing? Anything has got to be better than my Duramax. I love my truck but the mileage isn't very good.

I see 16.1 at 80mph with my big air pusher(ranch hand bumper), and get 9.5-11.5 towing my 40' 15.5K toy hauler.

I was the guy who posted he bodybuilder link.
Ive mentioned many times in the past, Ive owed a 03 05 and 06 Ram.
The 06 was a Mega cab 5.7l 4x4 3:73 .... I pull at camper maybe 6k wet.
The truck was capable. The engine had plenty of power but the 3:73's just didnt cut it. Alot of down shifting while towing. My 05 was a QC ThunderRoad with a 5.7l and 3.92. Towing a camper slightly heavier did alot better.
Either the 5.9l or 6.7l should make a good improvement... I can at least tell you that the 6.7l is a torque monster for sure. It doesnt have the off the line jump that the Hemi's had ... but I can feel the braun .. I will do my first pull with it in a week or two when I go visit my son in Biloxi.
I truely believe that if the Mega cab 1500 I owned had the 5.9l and at least 3.92's ... it would pull the weight of your trailer with no problems at all ... regardless of what the ratings say.
