An hour before the race and after all the practice sessions and setups have been made, they change the rules for bump drafting at Talladega.
What are they thinking
It may be to make the race safer but an hour before the race?...come on guys! It may not even be safer since the setups are for the most part formed around bump drafting for this track.

I understand it perfectly.
NASCAR realized that at Talladega the racing evolved into a race between the fastest PAIR of cars, instead of just one car. This gave an advantage to those car owners who own several fast cars, and it disadvantaged the "little guy". NASCAR knows they need a full field of racecars, at each race. They've NEVER been bashful about writing the rules of THEIR business.
I like the NASCAR rules.

I have been watching NASCAR for 20+ years, and if there is one thing I have sort of grown accustomed to is the fact that the NASCAR rule book, when written, is always written in pencil. No permanent ink here.
As a motorsports competitor, (truck pulling) I get frustrated when the rules book evolves continually. Lets keep one set of rules, and maintain them.
I do however recognise when rules need to change to effect saftey, and I don't think anyone could argue that safety shouldn't be paramount.

41 cars driving around in a single file line is NOT racing!
Tony Stewart just asked for some No-Doze!

Yeah, Nascar set it up that way. Keep running them around till all in front of the 48 run out of gas then they can make sure he has a good finish. At the end of the regulation race he was about 24th.
