I think your question is flawed..because people don't replace their batteries every five years, regardless of like-new or not. The expenditure is too high to just toss out something that is still performing. Chances are, most batteries or array's are going to show signs of deterioration after a number of years of use, but, they don't just up and quit. They work fine, even if not at an optimal level of output. Usually it's the furnace not coming on, while out on a chilly camping trip. THEN, we replace them, not before.

Hi garyhaupt,
No, the question is how long have the batteries lasted--I'm looking for answers that are from 5 years to 20! Sorry if I was not clear.

Please state how many years your batteries have lasted..... 9 years.
Please state what your total amp-hour capacity is.....Two T-125s. 240 AH
Please mention if you have an inverter--. ........2500 PSW
If you have had batteries that have lasted at least five years and you have a solar system could you please answer "yes" (and the number of watts) as a reply?.............Yes. 405 watts
If you have solar, a smart charger, and five year old batteries ...........It's a Solar Boost 2000A MPPT, but I don't know if it is "smart" enough to count here.

Yes, 1,850 watts. 600AH AGM, 6 years 5 months, solar smart. Prosine 2000 watt inverter with built in 100A smart charger
1850 watts of solar on the roof. 600AH AGM battery bank. Prosine 2kw inverter. EU3000 100% off grid since 6-1-03
If you're not part of the solution, theres good money to be made prolonging the problem.

I'm noticing a trend that folks with solar systems seem to have much longer battery life than folks without.
The batteries don't really know where their charging comes from.
Most solar controllers are better than a lot of chargers/converters. It is also better at paying attention.
I think a good maintenance regimen with a non-solar charger/maintainer would be as good as solar. For years, my boat batteries have had only a small antique charger on a timer, and have made it through many winters quite well.
Batteries respond to love and attention.
