Welcome to the "China-bomb" club! I'm running out the set of Unicorn-Express bombs that came on our rig. Just watch 'em carefully and maybe get a TPMS for the trailer. We did.

I can't speak for everyone with this brand but we USED to have Duro's on our rig until this summer. Our tires were 1 1/2 years old and had roughly 7000 miles on them when one blew out on our way back from vacation and caused some damage to our FW. After arriving home we discovered the 3 remaining tires also showed signs of separation and it was a miracle we made it back without more trouble.

Hi Folks, Can anyone tell me if I have a set of tire bombs on my trailer? They are Duro radial DS2100, ST225/75R15, load range D and are stamped "made in Tiawan" The trailer GVWR is 12,192 lbs. Thanks

I had Chinese made tires on my '04 Komfort 25 and they lasted only 3 years and <1200 miles before all separated, with one separating at <100 miles and 2 years. One way to easily tell is to have someone walk behind your rig while driving slowly (or someone you trust drive and =you= watch) and watch the tires. If you see any side-to-side "motion" in the tread (it looks like the tread is wavering sideways) as it rolls, you've probably got a separation issue.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I will be asking Santa for some new rubber and hopefully a TPMS this year. I see a lot of people are talking about the Maxxis tires. What can I expect to pay for a set?

I have put over 10K on the Duro's that came on my Wildcat and they look like the are new yet. I don't have the weight you do but so far so good. They are made in Aug 07.

I have to agree with you Chris. I thing I personally would be far more worried about the underrating of the tires on that much trailer. I would suspect that the trailer has 5000 pound axles under it and the tires are likely rated at 2500 each. Not much in my book. Get them off and install a set of quality wheels and 16 inch LT rated tires and quit worrying about them.

I may be wrong here but i had a full set of 4 "bombs" but they whare carlisle tires, i know that dosent help with your original question but i do know that the weight rating for the load range "D" tires i had where rated at 2,540lbs each X 4 = 10,160 GVW, if you are at 12K plus you need more tire!! reguardless of how good the tire is if you run that much overweight you are asking for trouble...

I doubt that they are old enough to be worrying about their age with just 2000 miles on them. However, trailer tires age much faster than our car and truck tires and can become suspect at the three year mark. Like others have said the weight you have posted seems a little high for the LRD tire. Maxxis makes a (ST) LRE tire in that rim size and it would give you nearly 1200 more pounds of load capacity. The draw back is your rims will have to be rated for the 80 psi required to get the full benefit of the LRE tire.

That is not much tire for a trailer of that weight! Chris

That was my first thought too. A "D" load range for that much weight is really pushing it.....
