I am having major problems with my 06 Montana trailer that has a Lippert frame. I have contacted Lippert and they said the warranty is voided b/c a bike rack was added. What other options are there to get Lippert to fix my frame? Their licensed framer they sent out to repair my frame said that the bike rack would not have caused the frame issues I am having.

I had a receiver hitch added so I could add a carrier, and mounted my 250 lb. generator. I guess they would definitely kick me out. My dealer said they would take care of me. Hopefully I won't have to find out.

Is your bike rack a welded on receiver type? If so, I would think that modifying anything would void a warranty. Since the frame was modified by someone welding on it, I can see their point. Besides that, your trailer is a 2006. Wouldn't your trailer be beyond the 1 year warranty period?

Was the bike rack part of the original purchase/install? Our Cougar had an extendable bike rack built-in and came that way from the factory.
If so, and Lippert says that the addition of the bike rack voids the warranty than Keystone is responsible since they added the bike rack.
Keep on this, become a pest to both Keystone and Lippert and you will get resolution in the end. It seems that with many RV manufactures and subsidiaries "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."

The bike rack was added by an experienced welder. How can the bike rack void the warranty if Lippert's welder they flew down said that the rack DID NOT cause the frame issues. My previous trailer, a Nomad had a bike rack on it and we never had any frame issues.

I agree with Vulcaneer but Lippert was very willing to fix whatever frame problems I had until they found out there was a bike rack. This leads me to believe that Lippert knows there is a major problem with their frames but are looking for an out. They flew a welder down to fix the frame which has since dropped 20% on one side and 30% on the other. The slide out no longer sits square in the opening as a result of the frame issues. Why would a company be so willing to fly someone down for a 3 year old trailer, out of warranty to weld on the frame, if they did not know of a pre-existing issue with their frame?

Request a written, dated and signed statement from the licensed framer including the info he gave you verbally. Then copy it and send the copy to Lippert and request resolution again. If they do not resolve the issue in an acceptable manner in a acceptable amount of time contact a good civil litigation attorney.

Have you tried working with Montana? Lippert is fickle and has a Warranty exemption that technically provides them an escape as soon as the factory drilled the holes for the spare tire rack underneath, and all the holes for the belly.
Your original warranty was with Montana, not Lippert. They may not be willing to help on a 2006, but it's ironic to note that in 2008 Montana themselves started welding a bike rack on the back of the Lippert frame.

It is a 06 3400. We also have one...It is out of Lippert warranty and it is clearly stated in the Lippert Warranty in 06,that a bike rack or any "modifications " to the frame will void the warranty. With all due respect.. The pre existing condition is the bike rack installed by you that voided the warranty that was clearly stated in the Lippert warranty. Having said that.. Call this person at keystone /Montana...Rick Deisler, Sales and service manager, customer service divison....574-537-3996. Calmly and professionally explain your problem. He just MAY offer some help. It will be good to understand and accept that by adding the bike rack you violated the tems of a clearly stated contract and gave Lippert the out to NOT correct the frame.... BTW.... We have a 2 inch bike rack wielded on the back of our 06 3400.
and..we have had no problems with our frame. Another BTW.. These folks have seen every frame problem and the cause of every frame problem that you can think of. It sounds like the cross beam that the Hitch is welded to failed perhaps the result of a incorrect weld..or...improper stress applied to the area. I will also tell you that Keystone MAY ask that your camper be weighed. We were just at the service center in Goshen and they do weigh campers now and advise you of your weight.. Good luck...
