I have located a Emerald III, by Onan.
It is a late 1990's model and they are asking $1200

I would be very careful in buying a generator that old. If it hasn't been used a lot, then you run the risk of other problems, like when the brushes on my Onan froze to the armiture and when I started the genrator for the first time after a couple of years, the brushes went flying....pulled loose from the mounts.
Two Honda 2000 watt with parallel kit or even better there's a Honda 3000 watt that a company converts to remote start. Watch the classifieds in Escapees and other RV forums, I see these for sale from time to time.

That generator is not suited for install aboard that Big Sky. It is a motorhome generator designed for underfloor that has exterior ventilation through the door and an enclosed thermally protected cabinet. Your Big Sky is not designed that way. The Big Sky is designed for the enclosed Onans generators that draw air from below and discharge heated air down through the floor without a door grille. The enclosed generators have a complete thermally insulated enclosure. Your Big Sky, if equipped with generator prep, only has a heat shield.
Look for the enclosed models in the QG series, Marquis.

I want to thank everyone for replying.
We feel that we are a little more prepared
and will continue to do our research. The
Onan Marquis 5500 is recommended by Keystone.
But at this time it hard to justify the cost of a new
one. We travel July thru September, and mostly stay
at RV parks.
Thanks again for your advise

Thanks again for your advise They are expensive and hard to justify based on use. Sometimes, so is my RV (hahahaha).
We have the 5500- its actually a little undersized for a 50A service (1-30A and 1-20A output). If you come across a nice 6500 you'll get 2-30A output circuits at not much difference in cost.
We have had ours through 2 RVs, and plan to reinstall in our next one if we decide to trade.

FYI, Honda is now making the EU3000i in a Companion model so two can be hooked together, just like the EU2000i's.

One thing to look for is an inverter-style gen-pack. An inverter only runs as fast as it needs to to keep up with the load. A standard generator runs at idle or wide open, even with a minimal load on it. Something to think about when gas is $2-something a gallon...or more. Personally, I'm leaning towards 2 Honda EU2000's paralleled together. Since we usually only travel in the summer to as cool a climate as we can find, running the AC is secondary, but running the TV is important, as the DW told me. :-) Two smaller inverters, at about 50 lbs each, wet, give much more flexibility. When I need one, I'll take one; when I need 2, I'll take them both. Add a 5-7 gallon outboard motor fuel tank with some hose, 90 degree quick-connect fittings and a tee fitting, and I can run both of them for nearly 24 hours on a single fill-up. :-)
