We are thinking about taking our 5th wheel to Oregon in July.
What is the best route. We live off of Hwy 87, just north of Fountain Hills. Would like to do the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake and Bend.
Your suggestions are most helpful

Sorry to do this, but "best route" can be very subjective. Do you like interstates or back roads? Are you in a hurry or want to take your time? Want things to stop and see on the way or not?
IMO the best way to see the coast is from north to south...this allows easy pull-out access in many cases. On the other hand, my wife likes the south to north trip, as she dislikes being on the edge of things. See? Subjective.
Anyway, there are 3 or 4 routes to be considered...if answers to paragraph 1 above are forthcoming, so will be a lot of ideas.

One way is to go north on I17 then west on I-40 to Barstow. In Barstow take Hwy 58 to Bakersfield. North on 99 to Stockton. In Stockton take Hwy 4 over to I-5. From I-5 you have the option of going over to Hwy 101 via Hwy 20 in Williams or continue north to Medford and over to Crater Lake and on to Bend. The above route is 98% four lane road and probably the quickest. If you prefer two lane then going up through Nevada would be another choice.

We have spent several/many summers on the Oregon/Washingtoun coasts - latest last July/Aug/Sept. and based on your question here is what I can suggest. (the scenic route from Ftn. Hills area (we are in Mesa).
87 to Payson 260 etc to Holbrook and east to 191. !91 all the way to I 70 north of Moab (e Canyon de Chelly/Canyonlands/Arches NPs). I 70 west to I 15 and north to Pocatello ID. West on I 84 to Ontario OR. US 26 (or 20 but we prefer 26) to Bend area. be sure to spend at least a day in the Sisters rea. From Sisters/Bend go north on 97 to Madras then 26 thru' Portland all thhe way to the coast at Cannon Beach/Seaside ( or at Portland go west on US 30 to Astoria). On the coast it is US 101 all the way south (as above the best views are going from north to south). Now take lots of time to enjoy this magnificent coast! OR State parks along 101 are very nice but do get filled up in summer! Reservations are recommended! Last summer we picked about 3 for 5-10 days eachand explored north and south from each base. A couple of our favorites - Jesse Honeyman SP just south of Florence; Bullards Beach near Bandon, Ft. Stevens, north of Astoria.
Tired of the coast by now? - at Brookings head on down to Crescent City CA, then 199 to Grant's Pass and over to Medford and on to Crater Lake ( we stayed at Diamond l;ake -just north of Crater lake NP.
Then head home - probably via Reno/Las Vegas Bullhead City/KIngman.
Enjoy the trip but do make reservations early!

Thanks for the replies, still working on the routing but I did make a reservation for 5 days @ Winchester Bay RV Resort. Has anyone stayed there?
Your suggestions on RV Parks will greatly appreciated
