Have you tried backing up just a little to releive the pressure off the latch?

I have the same hitch, pull the head off and turn it over and lube everything real good not grease but a good lube or oil. It will get better.

Chock the tires. Run the jacks down, lift the trailer a little. Then backup the pickup--easy.

States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.

That can't be working corectly. If they all do it? .....at best it is a very poor design.....Does the hitch on your commercial semi work like that?......I think not!....Take it back and to the installer and compalin.....There are better hitches out there....I now because I have owned 4 different ones and mine works just like the one on your commercial rig.....Most people have no idea how a hitch should work
because the only expierence they have had is with the one on their 5th wheel camper.....You know because of your profession.

Sounds like you have raised the trailer to remove most of the weight, pull the release to open the jaws... then when you try to pull away.. the pin is stuck in the hitch??? You have looked into the hitch from the back of the truck and see the jaws completely open????
Only problem I have had id getting the handle out to open the jaws...many time it will not budge until I back the truck slightly after chocking the trailer wheels to take the pressure off the jaws...I guess.

You need to contact Reese. I have a Reese 16K signature series hitch and never have had any trouble hitching or unhitching. Most of the time when I unhitch there is a little forward pressure from the TV. When I pull the lever the trailer and TV will separate about an inch or so. Your hitch probably has a problem.

Thanks for all your comments..Reese told me not to use the lube plate on this signature series I don't need it and I have no grease on the hitch because we also have the sidewinder on the king pin..if that changes things...
