I guess you don’t think much of my quote… I am not trying to bust your bubble on their value… they might be worth more to someone building a new utility trailer but still not by much…

I can buy all new axles, springs, brakes, wheels and tires for maybe $1,175 and I am guessing he can buy them for $650 to $750…

You will pay to have the old removed and new replaced weather he buys them or you keep them…

Your used axles are 14 years old… new tires that have been on the road have little residual value and with any wear at all on the magnets and drums the value to him would be below half of new…

Trading them for the labor might be a deal depending on how he is weighting the labor against the parts…

Hi JJ; I apologize for not responding. I've been as busy as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest. I had to rebuild the fuel bowl in my TV, 7.3 turbodiesel and that's taken the better part of two days; a job that I'll never, ever do again. I used my other van to tow the tlr to the garage only to find out that one of the 4 springs was too long. On Sunday, I was on my g/wing on I-35 doing about 70 and hit a deer. I managed to keep the bike up, but it has major damage. So, this has been a hectic 3 days, to say the least.

I'm surprised at your quote of $1175 for a whole new 16 inch suspension. Mine was ~$2100 for 7k axles w/electric brakes, 3.5k springs w/all hardware, & 16 inch titans on white, modular 3.5k wheels.

I was figuring on ~$100 for each axle and ~$100 for each 'new' tire and wheel. Depending on where you buy them, Marathons are about $150. Anyway, I'll find out tomorrow. If nothing else, I'll sell them for scrap at the metal salvage in New Braunfels; I won't haul them home.

NO NO NO I was saying new 5,200# axles with 15 inch tires and wheels… it is what you were asking the value of… sorry… what I might pay, what a dealer might pay, compared to used value to a dealer…

The price you are suggesting is not out of line on value to someone needing them, and of coarse appearance and condition makes a difference, but it may be a little high for a dealer to buy at that price…

Man you did have a week to remember… glad you weren’t hurt… how did the deer fare??? Are you having him for dinner???

My last set of 15" Marathons LRE, I paid 63.00 each for them. Marathons just are not a premium tire, although many seem to think they are and pay a premium price. At 150.00 a tire you are entering Michelin price points. Now those ARE premium tires. When I changed over to 16", I tried selling the 5 of them, in excellent conition mounted on white spoke rims for 350.00. No takers.

I sold the set for 120.00.

I hope you can do better, but being a dealer I am sure that he knows the values well.

14 year old axles and springs have little more than scrap value. 20.
00-30.00 each would be a good deal IMO.
