Years ago I added a ground wire from generator to frame of MH , 3 ft pre made battery cable from automtive store made a huge difference in my case

Ron, the "mechanical compression release" on Tecumseh was a little spring-loaded supplemental "lobe" on the camshaft. Looked like a little pin, and had an offset pivoting weight. Cranking, the pin would stay against the valve lifter. When the engine caught and sped up, centrifugal force spun the weight outward, retracting the pin.
