Yep, a sad day in central Indiana. With highs in the mid 60's and lows in the upper 40's all weekend the DW and I will be spending a beautiful weekend in one of our great state parks right here in central Indiana.

With very few neighbors, no bugs and a very quiet campground this is the best time of year to camp.

Hopefully we'll get a couple of more weekends out before our sad day arrives.

Funny how the Cali people like to brag about their warm weather. I also think its funny how the cost of living for the warmer weather is 3-5x as much as the midwest. I have a 3500 square foot home that cost $220k here, in Cali would cost close to 2 mil. Give me the sanity and down to earth people of the midwest anyday.

As long as the weather is just cold and not snowy and cold we will camp at least until after the first of the year and then maybe not Jan/Feb but March here we come. We are working on full time so then we can just move a little further south for the winter months. I hate to winterize because it means that you will not be doing something that you want to do. Waiting is not something I enjoy.

When I retire I get to do someo f the same things,... until then its weekends only as far as we can get in a couple hours. Our kids are all still at home, 18-8 yrs and well,... ugh. Turns out I was wrong about many things in my post prior to the trip this past weekend:

1. Temps were not in the mid 60's - we made it into the low 70's.

2. No bugs - there were lady bugs by the hundreds. Fortunately they were the friendly variety.

3. I was right about there being very few neighbors; less than twenty on Friday and Saturday nights and only one on Sunday night (on about 120 sites). Unfortunately it only took one lousy neighbor to ruin everyone's Saturday night. I walked over about 11:00PM to remind them that quiet hours went into effect at 10 - they apologized and promised to keep it down, and then kept up the loud party-ing until after 1AM. Everyone was glad to see them leave Sunday morning.

4. The other thing I was wrong about was that although I had fully intended to spend the entire weekend enjoying the state park - my wife dragged me out of the park twice to play golf at a nearby course.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend!

BTW jellenn, our retirement is still several years away. Like you we only have the weekends.

I winterized mine Sunday. Big bummer because it was 71 and I was winterizing in shorts and a t-shirt. Oh well, spring will be here soon.
